Question everybody… I accidentally drained the transmission fluid in my Tacoma last year. Had someone put new transmission fluid in it however ever since then when I drive my Tacoma and sometimes come to yield signs or stop signs and then start to accelerate my truck it won’t go, the rpm’s are going up, and can hear the engine but the truck won’t accelerate and go forward . Then all of a sudden it’s like a hesitation in my engine or transmission and then the truck will drive. Any thoughts on what it could be?? Possibly the person didn’t do something right with the transmission fluid?? Should I possibly take it to a Toyota dealership and have a person who specifically works on Toyota vehicles?? Thanks everyone for your help!

It could be over or under filled if the person who filled it didn’t know what they’re doing.

Search for how to check the level here.

    Good Luck

When you drained the trans fluid did you drive it before you caught it and refilled it?

Automatic transmissions run off of fluid. When the level is improper, usually low, engagement may be optional. Get the fluid level sorted out and you should be good to go:thumbsup:

Don't go to the dealer, they'll just tell you it needs a new trans.. which may be correct in the long run

But in the short term, take it somewhere and have them verify the correct amount of fluid is in the trans. If it's found to be low and gets topped off it may drive better.

But keep in mind, damage has likely already been done

The bit that gets me is “it happens just after you yield or brake”.
This indicates low fluid level to me. Like others said, check the level.

As for damage done, I don’t know.
Let’s hope you get lucky :fingerscrossed:
