    Solution Found. Read Final Update
Was sitting on a steep decline about 18* based on the roll sensor. Stopped and talked to a contractor for about 35 seconds (still in drive), then boom engine shut off. Lost power brakes, and rolled a couple feet before I realized and mashed the brakes. Scared the sh!t out of me with a 300 foot cliff next to me on a logging road... Look down and see:

Low ATF fluid Red Screen For 2 Seconds

Then Low Oil Pressure Red screen

    Check engine light on.

Put the truck in Park. Hit start stop button, started right back up. Message cleared and Check engine lights off...

    WTF!?

Update 1: Heading to the dealer this afternoon to pull the code. Will continue to update, won't leave ya hanging.

    Update 2:

Left the dealer. No codes showing up in the ECU history or anything. Ran a full health/diagnostic for a few minutes and everything's just fine. Tech doesn't know what to do. Service manager didn't know what to do. Idk what to do now...

Tech said it possibly could have stalled, and that's why those warnings came up. But then had no suggestion why it could have stalled.

So... Fuc$. Hope it was a fluke and never happens again. Especially not on a 15% slope doing 30mph... Or else you ain't hearing from TreeHugger again.

    Update 3:
This whole thread has turned into a cluster Fuc$, I will post pertinent information here if you don't want to dive through the shit, although some of it is entertaining.

This issue has not occurred for me again. I will be taking it to another dealer next week to get checked out again.

Oil pan design seems fine, and sloped like many other 4x4's.

I can also not definitively say which came first, engine oil pressure > engine shut off, or engine shut off > oil pressure buzzing. It happened to damn quick.

    Final Update
If you let the vehicle roll forward while shifting to revers, or while in reverse on a decline, the engine may stall. In the event it does the ECU may give you these warnings. @K Mac for stalling his truck to figure this out.

Thanks for all the help and brain storming. We can take the tin foil hats off now.

Tried to replicate the situation again with the exact same parameters, nothing. Tried with steeper slope around 30*, nothing.

This realllly freaks me out as I frequent narrow, steep, log roads with huge drops... Can't imagine this happening while doing 15mph

That's what the emergency brake is in the center now and of course to be used.

Well that does it for me as far as a 2016 Tacoma Too many problems being reported. I think I will wait on the 2017 or 18. I just can't see shelling out 40,000 and have to be worried about potential problems. I am going to keep a running list of all of the problems being reported.

That's a parking brake, not emergency brake

You do realize that every single car released every single year has some degree of problems regardless of how long its been out. For the 1 or 2 folks that have reported an issue here, there could be thousands that don't have that issue at all. Cars aren't perfect and it's hit or miss coming off the line regardless of year, make or model. Honestly, with this being a new body style and engine, there has actually been limited problems reported thus far. Shit, you should've seen when the F-250 came out in 06. The first month that truck came out, the message boards lit up with problems like a Chinese fire drill. This release is a night and day difference.

Scheduled appointment in a couple hours to pull the codes and will keep this updated. I used to be a tech so I'm just hoping this is a sensor issue and not mechanical.

Either way I'm torn with the fact it auto shuts the motor off. On one hand it could save the motor. On the other hand it could kill me...

Hahaha first use I could see. Should still be stored.

Meh, I wouldn't worry too much or let this sway your decision. Yea it's super early in the first year of production and there will be some quirks, I went into this expecting a few minor things to pop up. On the other hand it couldn't hurt to wait a year or too and let the guniea pigs find these things out. :annoyed:
Yep, no way in hell that E/Park brake would stop me with all the weight forward on a steep slope like that. My ass would've bailed out that truck in a heart beat.

That's where I'm hoping they'll take care of me.

Was just talking to my co-worker about his '06 King Ranch he got back then :sadviolin:.

But couldn't have put this better. My situation is anecdotal, just think how many thousands have not had any issues.

Why no faith in the ebrake...? As long as you can rip it hard enough to lock the tires it will hold the truck just as well as the hydraulic brakes.

Not much weight on rear tires. could just slide based on terrain. And its a "parking" brake. Its not meant to stop a moving vehicle. Thank the ambulance chasers for the change in terminology.

Ah yeah good point.. forgot that ebrake only goes to rears.

"Parking" brake is also there to provide the driver with a mechanical braking system in the event of hydraulic failure.

low oil pressure could be normal if the light came on after it shut off.

True, could have been something else that shut it off, then I saw that light. Will find out soon.

Id say the CEL, oil light, and trans light came on because it stalled. If you started it right back up and the CEL was out then there wont be codes stored. Id be more worried about why it stalled and not the warning lights

    Mmmmm. Good point!
I'm at the dealership right now and it's in their bay. Not too pleased as the service writer didn't quite seem to understand what I was explaining. Asked to speak to his tech as I used to be a tech, and said he may be to busy. From my experience I don't think there will be a code stored. I guess we'll see what he says and go from there...
Pointing downhill, decline about 18 percent. Fuel level was 1/2 tank.
