My stock suspension truck is hard to control on the interstate. I put new tires on last week (Kenda Klever A/T) and I need to get it aligned still. I feel like there are other issues with my front end. The upper and lower ball joints and tie rod ends are only 2 years old so they should be fine. I have no idea what is wrong with it and I trust mechanics like I trust thieves so any suggestions are appreciated.

get it aligned.... but also look up and see if you have the steering slip joint slop... very common on first gen's. Its very easy to see, just grab the steering shaft under the dash and move the steering wheel... 10 bucks says there will be slop....

2 small tac welds on the slip joint solves the issue and apparently makes a night and day difference.

I am gonna check this out because I've heard of this problem before. What are some other symptoms of the slop?

Don't forget to check your steering rack bushings. If your new tires are any bigger than your old ones, that could make your "swerviness" worse.

you feel a cluck in the steering wheel.

Its super easy to check for ... like stated simply reach up under the dash grab the steering collum and turn the wheel side to side you will feel the slop, and i guarantee you have it, i havnt seen a mid to high mileage (80k + mi) 1st gen taco / 3rd gen 4 runner without the slop.
