Since we are talking about suspensions currently, i am a T4R guy but I was thinking about getting a 17 TRD Off Road; I'm waiting for a king long travel to come in for the 4R, but I thought the 17 Off Roads came with Bilstein 5100s stock?

From what I remember, they're basically 4600s, not 5100s. The 5100s are adjustable and a little longer extended length IIRC.

    1) Not lifting the rear with shackles. Dropping it stretching the original leafs for a better less bouncy ride. Add a leaf will lift and give you a harsh ride.

    2) understand the misconception my bad.

Why does everyone cares where he works or what he does for a living...

    1. The OP is stating a longer shackle will lower the truck not raise since the shackle is reversed.
    2. A longer shackle increases the leafs rotating angle allowing for a stiffer ride (less bouncy) since the normal force is less but consequently will put more shear stress on the front leaf bolts.
    3. Only way to raise the rear is to do a shackle lift which I believe Archive Garage has currently been selling these recently.
    4. Also Camburg just recently built their sema truck with a lowered shackle mount to allow for a lift. (Dont know if they paired the lower mount with a longer shackle.)

You are the new bradwhitenikki. No scientific basis, no evidence, just plain old idiotic posts that seem to dig your hole deeper. All of which are anecdotal and hearsay. Oh yeah and you're an engineer.

the shackle kit i was talking about i texted a buddy that works there he didn't respond call them see if they have them. From what i was told its what "makes it the premium rear ride we "desert runners" have been looking for."

I am sorry you feel that way. i am no scientist or off-road engineer, im just relaying what i was told when i walked into king the other day to get my rear shocks and asked what the best option was for the best ride when it comes to spring and the shackles were the answer. im not trying to be a know it all just spreading words i was told sorry if i came off like that, its not my intention. but my scources came from king shocks itself about the "shackle idea" so its their science not mine, i will test their theory forsure but im not here to piss people off, and again sorry if it was bothersome.
