Well Tacoma world I really fucking did it this time. On my way home last night when a hit a particularly slick piece of ice and went head on with those brick mail boxes. All good short of a little neck pain and a soon to be sore wallet. No airbags. Anyone know how much I could be looking at to fix this? I'll provide specific pictures if requested.20200112_123533.jpg 20200112_123538.jpg 20200112_123540.jpg 20200112_123543.jpg 20200112_123548.jpg 20200112_123553.jpg 20200112_123602.jpg

Truck drives "fine" as in no lights on the dash and no leaking fluid. Steering is slightly off and wheel needs turned slightly to the right to drive straight

    Or tie rods

aside from the obvious i don't see any frame damage. good luck with the re-build. i think if you replace with like-OEM parts plus labor: under 10k. my guess

The same shit everyone else has.
Call you insurance company, they’ll send an adjuster out and give you an estimate.

This was about 5k$ worth of damage.

    upload_2020-1-12_14-30-18.jpg

Fender, light, fog light, bumper cover, under light filler panel, flare, flare extension and a couple small brackets got replaced.

Glad you made it out ok.

Was the damn brick mailbox steel reinforced with a concrete foundation? Damn!

Pretty sure mail box structures have certain guidelines to adhere too. Brick or heavy pipe, etc, isn't permissible IIRC. Ya might wanna check into that...

We have a lot of those brick shit house mailboxes around in the more wealthy neighborhoods, I always wondered what kind of damage they would do if someone ran into one... they look way to beefy. I would think that you would want to make the mailbox weaker rather than having it destroy a vehicle, its much cheaper to replace a mailbox. Hope your repairs go well. Do you have full coverage or just liability?

These guys in Missouri don’t fuck around with their mailboxes. To many dumb kids going around smashing them with bats out the car windows.

I wish some dumb punk would have smashed his bat on that one over OP’s truck.

Years ago, the drunk guy down the road took out our mailbox one night. The next day, my dad buried an 8" steel pipe with a piece of channel iron welded on the top for the new post. We had an excavating business so he dug the hole with one of his back hoes. I'd hate to see what that thing would do to a car.
I've always questioned the legality of putting something so solid right off the road.
    You'll have a healthy bill there. I'm guessing $5k-ish.
    We should start a pool!

That’s why brick mailboxes are banned in some areas.

It actually was hit before:rofl:these people are family friends and idk if that makes it better or worse. He said the first time it got taken out the thing basically turned to dust. I wish I was that lucky because I spent the morning picking bricks up
