Even if she hit a rabbit, damage was done while she was driving. The money comes out of her pocket.

    Well...

Anytime I see .. “I let my wife drive”... “she drove” ... “her idea to take the truck”..

It’s usually followed by some damage.

IMO 2% of the damage was going forwards. The other 98% was done backing off that rock.

I guess now is a good time to say she should submit the claim to her insurance or pony up the cash to fix the truck.

That sucks, sorry to see that! She would have had to be going highway speeds for am "animal" to cause that much damage. Factory bumpers aren't cheap to replace because they will want to blend the truck to match the new bumper. IF you want a steel bumper, maybe she will cover half the cost and avoid insurance.

It does not matter in the least. You broke (damaged) it, you pay for fixing it.

no, it was definitely not a rock, or just "some animal".

It definitely WAS a sasquatch, Bigfoot, if you will. That's why this mystery creature only showed up while she was driving, and not when she had her high dollar 97megapixel, mirrorless, 3D, Imax camera out. It's all a big conspiracy OP. Did this happen anywhere near area 51 by chance?

If you look at that cracked bumper cover carefully, it appears that it was pulled forward to create that tear. I don't see how running into an animal (and over it) would create that. I bet she ran into a rock or stump, got the truck wedged there and then reversed out which created that tear. Like everyone else, I don't see an animal involved with this.

I cannot bear the sight of this damage. It’s an awful thought to mentally picture your beautiful truck bear the brunt of this impact. Speaking of the damage, it does bear resemblance to a rock impact.

OP, I hope you can forgive your friend and not bear a grudge against her. Bear in mind, she was just too embearassed to tell you the truth. This will be her cross to bear for quite some time. She is clearly, not as smart as the average bear. However, it just might be time to bear arms.
