My 2006 Tacoma is having a system immobilizer isssue, and sometimes won’t start. It first happened about a month ago, and I fixed it by unhooking the battery. This same thing happened again today, and I unplugged the battery and it started up again. I’ve tried searching the threads, but haven’t found any answers as to what could be causing it. If anyone has had this issue before and fixed it, I would greatly appreciate any ideas and help before I take it to the dealer. Thanks in advanced.

My 08 tundra does that. I find if I leave the key in the ignition overnight it loses communication. I pull the key out and flip it over and it starts right up.

How have you determined that it's the immobilizer? Does the red light on the dash continue to flash after you insert the key?

The truck cranks and starts momentarily. I can do this multiple times. I pull the key and reinsert it the opposite way and it starts right up and stays running just fine.

I never remember to look at the imobilizer light to see what it's doing. I'm just happy I'm not a pedestrian.

the first time it happened, I hooked up my code scanner and that’s the code it threw.

Mine won’t even start momentarily, it just sits there and cranks. Once I unplug the battery and hook it back up it fired right up

Bad chip in the key. Try a different chipped key

I switched keys after the first time it happened, but it happened again. I’m wondering if it could be the chip reader?
