I hate to say it but there is the possibility that something in the ECM got fried, all the wires for the leak detection pump are in that connector if it's indeed the ID2 connector.

I think I would start with checking if you have 5v Ref on the VC circuit.

You possibly shorted out the ignition system or there is a reason why the computer will not allow fuel or spark after shorting out the pins. I would determine if you have fuel and determine if you have spark and try to go from there.

Go back to the check engine light. Does it light when you put the ignition on/crank like Tacoma Mike asked. Your vid was just too blurry and shaky. If it's NOT, you're not going to get anywhere because the bottom line is that something is wrong with either power to the ECM or the ECM itself is fried.

Do as Dm93 said and check any 5v circuit (or multiple). If no 5v, your ECM isn't working.

Yeah so I lent the problem over to a friend of mine that’s a Toyota mechanic. For the sake of finishing this thread to help out the next guy I’ll keep you guy updated on what’s going:

he called me and told me that everything seems to being going good except for when it come to the ECM. Said it could be the unit itself or it could be internal fuses that link to the ECM. So for those of you that guessed it was the ECM, you have a special place in my heart. Once it’s all set and done, I’ll interrogate him on what he did to fix it and then post it on here

Hopefully you get it sorted :fingerscrossed: sucks if the ECM is toast though.

    Oof! Das no bueno.

For future reference... Wrap a paper clip around the probe and back probe connectors without disconnecting them.

T-pins are good for back probing too. I get mine from Amazon, but I believe you can get them at any sewing supply store. You poke the pin in (you can dull it if you want - the main thing is that it's very thin). Then you can use alligator clips on your probes to grab on the the T.

This is making me sad - the longer it takes for an update, the more I start to think that the ECM got fried for good -

Yeah, I just got my truck yesterday.

After taking it to the mechanic in December, he basically told me that he could start the truck using a laptop and then disconnect his laptop but on its own, the truck would not be able to start itself. Some part of the ecm became damaged while I was using the multimeter. Which mean all my fuses were good.

I ordered a new ecm for my truck on the 23 of December and barely got it 3 days ago. The mechanic plugged it in and he programmed it along with the remotes. Today I finished the project I was working on back in December and I couldn’t be happier. Sucks that I had to throw down a couple extra bucks to fix this problem but in the end, hopefully it’ll help someone else out.

ecms for the make/model/year for my truck is just $200. Not bad, they just take a while to ship. Got mine through flagship1

    Glad you got it repaired.
Please know your not the only person to do this.
I’ve seen this 100’s of times.
Like others have said, back probe with care.
