Up here in Canada the speed limit on the big 4 lanes is 110 kmh ( 70 mph) on the smaller 2 lane it is 80 kmh ( 60 mph) max. You get caught going 136- 145 kmh (85 - 90 mph) it is called racing, dangerous driving and there are hefty fines, lose licence, impounding of vehicle and even jail. But that is Canada for you.

After driving in Texas on multiple trips over the past 20 years, I'm convinced that on the Interstates that they are more "speed suggestions" than speed limits. :D

Multiple people have asked about the RPMs because we need that info to rule out whether your truck has aftermarket gearing (which would be cool) OR whether you've dropped the ball installing the air intake (un-cool.)

Use the gear selector to move into sport mode (by moving the shifter towards the left) then write down the gear you have selected (S4, S5, etc) the RPM and the speed.

I crashed on a motorcycle at 125 mph, thought I was invincible, went through a fence, ended up in a field of vegetables, I remember waking up in the ambulance with the EMT yelling at me: "BREATH MAN BREATH" next time I woke up was in the hospital 3 months later. I drive much slower these days now.

    You were very very lucky.

I remember when the KZ1000 hit the market. It was just before high school graduation. A father bought his son a KZ1000 for a graduation present and gave it to the boy 2 weeks before graduation. The son and the bike lasted 8 days. That family had a funeral instead. The story was the boy hit a bridge abutment, a train trestle overpass, at about 120 mph. I drove under that overpass on my way to work, there was a red splatter until the next heavy rain. Immensely sobering and huge emotional impact on the entire graduating class.

I still ride and will ride until I can't. I firmly believe in ATGATT (All The Gear All The Time). Sure the gear won't improve survival against a bridge abutment, but it will improve your chances in typical accidents. Along with sane riding and skills. Any fool can go faster than the fool's skill.

Couldn't agree more, I was wearing full leathers, all it did was hold me together. Took me a year to heal and get to where I was ready to get a job again. I was 18 when I crashed and 20 by the time I was done with the doctor's. Be safe out there.

Yeah.....I recall the incident very clearly. I was 18 at the time. The deceased was a teammate on the swim team. The whole team was tight with each other............

Protection gear has advanced a long way over the years. There are leathers with integral airbags now.

You had someone looking after you to still be here. I had a friend that was killed in a crash while racing his motorcycle at the track with all the protective gear required. I know whats its like to take a shitter while racing motocross with all the gear even at those speeds....believe me you can still get screwed up.

Here in BC if you go 40 km/h over the speed limit, you lose your license for 30 days and will end up paying about 2500-3000$ for towing/car storage/fines etc.

I dont do more than 15 km/h over the speed limit, maybe a few times i went 20-25 over but it was for a very short time, like when passing for example.
