My truck is an 07 DC prerunner, just hit 100k miles. I went to work this morning and truck ran and started just fine. When I went to go leave work today the truck wouldn't start. All I got was one single "click". Me and my buddy went and picked up a new starter and after replacing it the truck still won't start. Still get the one single click. The battery is good, all lights and accessories work fine. The alternator was replaced less than 20k miles ago. I checked all the battery wires and they are solid and not corroded.

Does anyone know what it could be? The only thing I can think of is maybe the starter relay. And insight on the issue would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have an alarm? If you have a volt meter check the voltage directly across the battery terminals. You could have a bad cell. The lights still work but not enough voltage to kick it over take a volt reading and another volt reading when you try to start. Need a good 12 volt reading or better under load. If your buddy has another vehicle and jumper cables put em on with the other vehicle running and try to start

I do that from time to time.
Normally with a dead battery you get multiple clicks rather than just one.

I would also double check the battery though.

I agree but if his voltage is low and alarm goes into fail-safe he will be fighting two problems at the same time. That's been my one click experience. On mine you hold the alarm reset button in and turn the ignition key twice from off to start. Easiest thing to do is put jumper cables and try again.

I've never had an alarm on any of my vehicles. Jumping it would be the easiest starting point.

Another idea, cycle your gear shift from park neutral might even try to start in neutral make sure the steering column is not in a bind . Also if you have try a different set of keys

Grab a multimeter and start checking voltages and continuity between connections. I have seen wires corroded to the point of separation on the inside of the wire insulation.

All those areas are contact switch points that can keep the truck from starting they are in a daisy chain

If it's not making the limits (being in park/neutral) the truck wouldn't make any noises.

The battery is only 3 or 4 months old. I have a volt reader wired in the truck and it reads 12 volts when the key is in. All my connectors for my batter are new I did the big 3 upgrade 5 or 6 months ago and got very high quality stuff. All connections are solid. I've never had a problem until today. I do have an alarm I have a viper 5704 with auto start. I tried pulling the fuses and starting the truck but still nothing.

If I'm missing something yall said let me know. I've researched and can't find anyone who had had the same problem so I have no where to start from.

Ok, It sounds like a starter disable. Put your alarm in Valet mode.
