thank you for all of these fixes, I tried the park vs neutral .. nothing

I've checked the grounds and the fuses.

I've now borrowed my buddies Diagnostic and ran it on my truck, in the pending code section it said P0340 "camshaft position sensor A circuit bank 1 or single sensor"

Would this cause the truck to not start (not even turn over)?

Thank you, everyone, who's helped thus far, it's GREATLY appreciated!

Have you tried to jump it? Even if accessories run it doesnt necessarily mean the battery is good. The current required to run lights is a fraction of the current needed to start the truck. If it starts with cables there's a good chance the battery going bad.

*edit* Missed the part in the 1st post sorry

thanks for the reply, I tested the battery with a voltmeter (showed 12.43) and I test the connection at the starter motor and it was the same (12.43)

12.43v is starting to get low, if I remember correctly any voltage below 12.4 is considered diminished. With the warm weather though I doubt its the issue, but you may want to get a tender or replace it at some point.

What is the voltage at battery when trying to start? It could be 12+ at rest and drop to 4v when trying to start = no good.

The cam sensor code just means the computer is expecting the engine to be turning when the key is in the START position. You can ignore this until you get the starter to work.

I'll echo this. I thought my battery was fine. Tested over 12v. It worked in the morning but wouldn't start the truck in the afternoon. But it was 9 years old. Changed the battery and problem solved. Costco has our battery for $86. I just checked last week.

Also, if you have a serviceable battery, add distilled water to the cells. There are videos on this. With the summer heat, lots of evaporation occurs, especially here in the south.

this has happened to me too, they read the CCAs on the battery and it had 8 CCAs left! Battery was absolutely trashed. One moment working, the next moment dead. I was in the process of replacing the starter when I thought, maybe I should change the battery first.

A valuable tool for this type of troubleshooting is the battery load tester. I have a cheapie but it works fine and once helped an argument with a parts counter guy over a brand new battery I bought with a shorted cell. Good voltage reading but shot to 0 when the load was applied. This type of tester can be purchased for 25 to 35 dollars. (yes I know it is a cheap POS. but I have found mine very useful)

Would love to hear an update on this. Was it the battery?

Some years ago I was returning home from the mountains. I stopped at the gas pump to fill up. My vehicle didn’t start after that. Just like what you where saying, nothing leading up to it. Got a tow home. Opened the hood the next day, ready to replace all sorts of things. Neighbor came over and taught me a lesson. He cleaned the battery terminals and like magic the vehicle started. Drove it for years after that with zero issues.

I've had this exact experience with a few vehicles.

My wife's GMC did this last year. When the motor was cold it would start and run just fine but once it got up to temp it would die. Turned out to be a bad fuse block. The wiring inside tested fine for continuity but found out that if I smacked it with the motor running it would kill the motor also

I might also suggest the ignition switch may be getting worn. Do the instrument panel lights react when you move the key from ON to Start? If you have a helper, you might also use a volt meter and measure at the soleniod when the key is turned to start.
