2019 TRDOR DCLB. 21,700 miles. Drove my truck yesterday without issue. Parked it overnight. It started up this am but it was a little sluggish on the turnover. I noticed the fuel MPG readout had reset itself. Drove it about 3 miles and parked for 10 minutes. Then it wouldn’t start. It would click rapidly, but no attempt to turn over. Attempted jump start, but not successful at first. I left it hooked up to the other vehicle that was running for about five minutes and then it jumpstarted just fine. I drove it to the dealership about 10 miles away. It started perfectly for them multiple times and the battery and alternator checked out fine. They gave me the option to leave it overnight and see if it wouldn’t start in the morning or just take it home and hope it doesn’t happen again. They also didn’t see any kind of battery drain while running the diagnostic. No doors were left open or cabin lights left on overnight. Headlights were off, LED DRL in the “on” position as usual. Only mods to electrical system are a professionally installed remote start that was installed at least four months ago and I changed out the grill for the TRD pro style about 10 months ago without PCS issues. Any thoughts? Thanks.
    Edit: It was the battery

    It's just the battery.

If this happens at once, then it's fine.. If it won't start next time, take it to shop and explain. At least your battery isn't draining, you are good.

That’s what I figured. But, they said the battery was fine on their diagnostic. Is it possible that it would just have a random drain but still be in good condition?

Are there situations where a healthy battery would just ran randomly drain for essentially no reason (lights on, ect.)?

Did they disconnect the battery and run a load test as part of the process? (you don't specifically say that)

If not, my bet is that it will fail such a test.

I’m not sure specifically what they did, but they said they ran a diagnostic and the battery was fine and there was no sign of a drain.

I doubt they did a real capacity and load test on the battery.

If it's the OEM battery chances are pretty good it's about to take a shit on you.

Search previous threads, if you get 3 years out of the OEM battery you're doing great.

It is probably the OEM battery. I bought the truck a year ago with 18,000 miles on it and it is a 2019. I also bought the extended warranty (Don’t shame me.) anybody know if the OEM battery is covered under the initial or extended warranty? I am sure it’s probably not, but I only have 21,700 miles on the thing.

I’m not sure. He did say that there was a specific computer they had to hook it up to for diagnostics when it’s a potential warranty issue. But, I’m not well-versed in the stuff. I just know that the starter starts the engine, the battery provides electrical power, and the alternator charges the battery. That’s about it .

In case you are worrying that would happen again, when you are done with the truck for the day, press twice on lock button on your fob, it will turn the lights/electrical off for you. Which I do this all the time on mine.

OEM battery is good for what you have now but it would be best if you get a bit bigger battery if you plan to add mods to your truck such as fridge, more lights, etc.

3 years on a OEM battery? I must be a fortunate-year four no issues yet.

I’d double check battery connections, make sure they aren’t loose.

It's the battery. Mine took a dump at around one year of ownership. Replaced under warranty. Push for a new battery, if they have Panasonic you'll be golden., if not they'll give you their "5 year" one (what I got).

If they didn't fix anything, its not fixed. I'd check battery connections.

Noticed everyone is jumping on a 3 year old battery as the cause (and that may indeed be the case), but I am a bit surprised that no one has brought up that after market remote starter as a potential source of this issue? Not saying it is the cause, but its definitely a variable here that should be considered.
