So I have a 2012 DCSB and this morning it wouldn't move. Just like the brakes were locked up. This happen to anyone? So it was towed to dealership and is awaiting service.

It's happened to me twice in the last week, but I suspect for a different reason. My back brakes were frozen solid, I had to go a little ways in 4lo to break them loose. Moral of story, use handbrake sparingly in winter months.

I know this isn't what happened to you (the frost part), but did you use the handbrake? Maybe something went wonky in there, jamming them up.

You're sure it was the brakes? Being that you're in HI, I would guess the parking brake didn't freeze. :p Only other things that I can think of would be a master cylinder or caliper issue or possibly a collapsed brake hose. Sometimes brake dust can cause the parking bake not to release to easily as well. Did it feel like the drag was from the front or rear?

I had to give it a couple tries on the throttle to break mine free , if the OP didn't realize what was happening he may not have given it enough gas

Very true. Plus oz u may had urs stuck worse than mine cuz I would imagine that Canada get a lot colder than PA haha. Which made me realize he is in Hawaii. I don't think it gets that cold there does it.

thanks for the feedback guys. I DID wash the truck yesterday. I have 6sp and I was rocking the shit outta it because I figured the drum was stuck. I couldn't move and after burning the clutch pretty good I gave up.

My dad was cool enough to get tow truck to take it to toyota. The service tech couldn't bust it free either. Anyway, they got it fixed. The service guy said to drive the truck a few miles after you wash it.

Anyway all is good. Thanks for the help!! You'd think toyota would have engineered this from ever happening.

Surface rust can do it too

hi all, so long story here but I will keep it short. After this first incident toyota unlocked my rear drum. It rusted/froze because of the water from washing the truck.

Last week this happened again but only difference was that I was able to drive forward about 10 feet and then drum froze while my truck was in the middle of the road. I have my 4 year old in the car and was pretty pissed off that this happened again especially with the MAJOR safety issue this caused. I tried rocking the truck hard, even tried using 4 wheel drive to pop the brakes but to no avail.

Anyway, another tow to toyota, they were super busy so it took 4 days for them to get to my truck. They said it looked like water was getting into the drum but not draining. I ranted about the major safety concern this was causing and insisted they change out the rear brakes. Service rep kind of blew me off and finally i spoke to a service manager and he said they will probably change everything.

A day later they called and said that toyota instructed them not to change anything, and try cleaning and lubing everything first and see if it works. I told them this is the second time its happened so I felt they should already be changing everything. They said next time this happens they will. I was pissed off that I'd have to go through this major inconvenience all over again for an "attempted fix."

anyway, I haven't had a chance to wash the truck again. I will soon and see if the problem persists.

I had this happen to me while loading my boat at the lake. Backed my trailer in the water and set the hand parking break. Loaded my boat and jumped in my truck to pull out. Truck wouldn't budge. I tried rocking it back and forth and nothing. Had a guy pull me and my boat up the ramp, back tires locked up and dragging the whole way up. Got her up on flat ground and tied my boat down. Was about to get on the phone and call in some help and decided to try it again, truck rolled fine like nothing ever happened. I can only assume the parking brake didn't release. Worries me every time I go fishing but so far hasn't happened again. 2008 prerunner, v6, 6 spd manual

Happens to me everytime I wash the truck. If I don't drive it shortly after washing it, the e-brake sticks. Pretty normal.

I had that happen several of times with OEM brake shoes. I change them to Wagner Thermoquiet about 4 years ago it never happened since.

Doording, believe it or not, I'm just washing my truck. Nothing out of the ordinary. I can drive through puddles and wet roads and no problems. But when I wash my truck, it gets stuck. When they opened it up, the drum had a lot of corrosion and it looked like a drum that was being dunked in the water from launching a boat. But I don't do that. So its weird and is one of the reasons why I was so pissed off.

I will not accept this is "normal." If I have to tow my truck to the dealership every time I wash it, that's f*cked up. They need to fix this.
