Truck wouldn't start. Starter rebuild

    Umm......What???when people jump each other, one usually has a battery below or near 12 volts, and usually the good truck is running and pumping out a solid 13.5 v. Add on top of that you have double the amps, which is basically how much 12v you can push along the wire at one time. 1 volt with 300 amps will kill a human. 300 volts with .2 mA will tickle and nothing more.

    The part where you were able to start the truck without a jump & something or a "culprit" is draining the battery!

    If you have a fully charged battery does the truck start?

    just double check the voltage & current state of the new batt & if thats in spec, then you have no choice but to pull & test the starter

    So..... Life lesson learned......always double tap. I tapped the shit out of the starter and she turned over, no problem. A little hesitation, but no problem. I'll have my rebuild kit later today. Now I have another question. What can I replace the drainage "plug" with so it is closed off from anything getting in but still able to drain? (I broke it trying to remove it)

    While your digging around working on starter R+R , might be worth your time to follow the negative wire from the battery terminal out , remove and clean any connections and replace. Give the battery to engine wire special attention .
    When you jumped your truck, did you put the negative jumper clamp on the battery or ground it on engine metal?

    I've replaced all wires from and to battery with ofc high strand 0 gauge cable with soldered connectors (big 4 upgrade). I will be detaching, cleaning and tightening up all connections just to be sure. I never ground to body. I have just 2 connections on body, main and inverter in cab. I have a negative buss bar for all the toys.
