    pretty much fluff.

bigger dealers just get more allocation slots than smaller dealers. when I ordered my 14 4Runner, my dealer was only allowed 2 allocations, initially. after saturations (happened in late Jan-2014) the allocation slots increased.

I ordered that 4runner back in late sept-2013/early oct-2013 and I actually picked it up on 4-dec-2013.

the regional port decides who gets what allocations fulfilled first based on many factors by how the dealer performs each quarter/yearly some of the criteria is :

    1. number of vehicles sold
    2. customer satisfaction survey results (ever notice why they always insist on "5" on those surveys)
    3. awards won by the dealership within the region

and if you look around, you can see boards with how the regional office views your dealer in the dealership.

Here's the response to the question.

"Your ordered Tacoma is not yet in A or I status.

As of today, your order hasn't even been accepted by Toyota to be built. However no one's order has been accepted either in this region.

Unfortunately we're in a waiting game for the company to do something, and I assume a lot of people who ordered theirs are in the same situation as well."

I don't like that it hasn't even been accepted to be built... So it could still be rejected and I just sat around for over a month with no knowledge of it? Yuck.

Why is this thread still going? 2016's are being sold all over the country.

um that's BS. usually after 2-3 days of an allocation submission, the regional port will either accept or reject it for xxx reason. that just tells me, they haven't even submitted it yet.

and it has nothing to do with Toyota. Toyota just builds them and ships what the regional port request. outside of that, its between the dealer and regional port.

some of the post I have read here is that allocation requests were being accepted/reject within 2-3 days after submission.

my first allocation was rejected after 1 day (black interior wasn't available on the Blazing Blue Sport), 2nd allocation request was accepted after 2 days with the grey interior.

also to add, YMMV. I can only give you my personal experience dealing with my dealer (which is in the Kansas city region) and from I have read on the forums.

only other option, find a new dealer if you can that has good word of mouth on the forums or locally from friends/co-workers.

Good information......My dealer found a truck with a holding VIN with my options going to another dealer and was able to get it into their inventory and mark it sold before PIO as I told them I didn't want any PIO (except towing package which is likely not installed by the port)

. Still not arriving until Mid October so it appears allocation inventory can be moved before the build....hmm

Yet some people are still being told from their dealers that there is a stop sell.

What does allocation status "A" mean? What does freight status "F" and "I" mean?

just to confirm my above post about slow boat to china rail delivery, as some has posted in another thread that has rail shipping times, from rail departure to rail arrival, its 13 days for one person. that doesn't include shipping by truck transport on top of that which was another 1-2 days and 2 days from port to rail service loading.

total time was from port release to dealer arrival was 16 days.

If you're still waiting to even get your order accepted, would you consider going through a dealership in Alexandria, VA? Jack Taylor's Alexandria Toyota is one of 4 dealerships nationally that has won Toyota's president's award for 29 straight years. As a previous poster noted, this is one of the criteria used to determine allocations. They took my order for an access cab OR with zero options, which is a rare build I think, back in late August. It was built on Sept 30 and is scheduled for delivery between Oct 15 and Oct 23. I worked through their internet manager, Gary Rogers.

In case anyone is wondering, I have absolutely no connection with this dealership other than having placed an order. And they have promised me nothing for referrals. I should add that they insisted on MSRP.
