    I disagree on all counts.

Turbos suffer from lag that S/C don't have. Turbos also don't provide as much low RPM benefit as S/C do. I'm not sure how that translates to "alot of all time power".

Turbos are driven by exhaust gases, while superchargers are driven by a drive pulley. Both are forced-induction systems that compress more air into the engine, thereby causing a properly equipped engine (ECU, fuel pump, injectors, etc) to push more fuel in, gaining power. Turbo spin at higher RPMs and can, therefore, provide more max boost, but doing so requires more engine mods and causes more wear & tear. If configured this way a turbo will "wreck the engine" quicker than a S/C.

    In general...
    - S/C are easier to install than a turbos
    - S/C create no additional exhaust backpressure
    - S/C are more reliable, due to less heat and lower RPMs
    - S/C require fewer modifications and less tuning

Tell me again what makes a turbo "much better than a SC"...?

Haven't seen this episode or many to be honest but I'm recording part 2 tomorrow. Give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe tomorrows show will be the engine management and fuel delivery.

My intent was not to make turbos seem terrible, only to point out the fallacy of previous claims that turbos provide "alot of all time power", that S/C are somehow more likely to "wreck the engine", and that a turbo is "Much better than a SC". To do so, I followed advice I've seen you dispense several times... http://tinyurl.com/3h3poc7 ;)

In the end, I agree that each system has advantages and disadvantages.

LOTS of wiring, dual battery setup, Solar charging system, with some random lights spread around here and there.
That was part 2. Part 1 was a couple weeks ago when they eliminated the horrible dual exit exhaust and cleaned it up a bit as well as took it out for its first trail run. So anything with part 2 attached will be the same as this one.

A good matched turbo in terms of the inducer wheel and exducer and the A/R ratio and there would be almost no lag.

You can always get more power out of a turbo then a SC too in the long run.

If i ever do forced air induction, ill turbo...or twin charge depending on if i can afford it.

also wtf aren't these episodes on youtube!

Ok a (turbo lag) agruements aside can't we agree turbo pluming through the fender and a tubro under the truck is a stupid idea on an offroad truck? Kick some of the that sticky clay mud up there then wonder what the smell is or part it in some tall grass after some thrashing, or like i said before somehow rip off that oil pump line. I'm into turbos but as stated before that whole under the bed intake thru the bed thing is stupid.

meh, you can make skids for anything. What id do. and the intake up through the bed is a good idea. Its outside. you'd be getting very cool air compared to the engine bay temps. Plus you could plumb in a small intercooler and be even cooler. Its better to have it up through the bed then down below.

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
The tv setup not really good for real offroad, IMO. Rocks, sticks and whatever will tear the undercarraige stuff up. But onroad pulling would be great. Have have had both turbo and sc on other vehicles. Like the turbo cause it's "free" horsepower. It doesn't draw off the engine. The bottom end lag didn't bother me much. Was hard to hook up the tires anyway.

And what happens when the tools in your TOOLBOX smash the filter. More skids? A turbo lets say under the hood would be a decent idea. Maybe you just don't have the same break an anvil with a sock of shit luck I do. But i've had several malfuntions on differant rigs, dont know how many times i've herd people say I've never even herd of that breaking, when i had a broken one in my hand. In my years I've learned less is more keep it simple.

I thought that the toolbox was a pretty piss poor place to put an air intake. Yes, they drilled a couple holes in the box so air could get in, but I only saw 4 small wholes. So you might as well put those same holes directly over the intake. = lame. Plus, it negated the usefulness of the tool box.

Those guys always seem to red-neck everything.

35r a little overkill for offroading. Gt3076r would be perfect.

There's a lot of different turbo options out there. Something with a smaller exhaust housing to help the spool up.

30r's come in .63 AR and they are ball bearing. My 1.8L had no problem spooling it up. full boost from 4,800rpm to 8,500rpm.

I wouldn't want Stacy touching my Toyota. That guy's more of a red-neck than the two current Trucks! guys combined.

Extreme4x4 is a good show, but even they're a bit red-neck for my tastes. It's not "off road capable" unless it has 38's and a small block. At least they did a crawler buggy show with a Toyota engine and spooled axles once, that was pretty cool.
