    Hey Dudes,

Looking at lifting my 23' Tacoma with 3/2 suspension lift. Would like to go 3" inches in the front, but I'm having trouble finding a coilover that actually lifts a true 3" . Icon goes to 2.75 and Toytec only lists a range of 0-3.5 , but that also has the 2nd gen grouped into that fitment which we know lifts higher than 3rd gen w same lift.

So, with Icon listing 2.75" does that mean 2.75" is the max because that's the limit for stock front end? Ive being looking for quite a while and I have yet to find a manufacturer listing a straight up 3" front lift coilover. And if that's the max then that's fine, just wanted to make sure I'm not missing something. I'm just trying to make sure I have max clearance for 285's.

I think i read that 1/4" tophat will give you 1/2" additional lift too right?

    Thanks in advance!

    -Jake

Fyi, anything over 2.5 starts creating a lot of problems on these trucks 100's, if not 1000's of post on that subject. Advise stay close to 2" in front.

Lift doesn't tire create clearance with Tacoma, if anything it usually results in the wheel rubbing worse due to lack of adjustments unless you have upgraded UCA.

3" is too much, it will severely limit down travel and rides rough. Read up and you'll see 2.5" max, as said. 2" ideal.

Especially on rough terrain, you want down travel, not lift.

285's usually need upper control arms, slight inner fender movement, alignment, then lastly cab mount chop when it rubs on hard lock and compression.

    You don't want 3"

You may want big tires - Trimming
You may want suspension travel - long travel

Please don't use the shocks as the primary lifting component. Your ride will be terrible. Just had a buddy who took his truck to an install shop because his ride was so harsh. I told him to take the pre load out. Called me yesterday and said it was a completely different truck. It's better to get lift through a lift spindle. It keeps all of the geometry the same.

Yah, probably not a popular one. But I'm not sure why. It's the most logical to me.

Spindle lifts are better, just not applicable to 4x4 models unless you go drop bracket.

These guys can say what they want I did the rough country 3/2 with drop bracket for the differential"original needle bearing" that's for the haters . Then I upgraded to rough country 6" lift and its even better . I knew what I was getting myself into "yes you have to cut a cross member " I don't plan on going back . 180k + miles and yes I still have the stock needle bearing for Christ sakes . Honestly just do your research and you will find what your looking for .
