I fell asleep midway through ep. 2 last night. Episode 1 was a bummer compared to the first season. I was hoping last night's would turn it around. I'm going to finish it in a few, so hopefully I'll have a better opinion of this new season after that.

 

Yeah kind of a slow start. But I liked the 2nd episode a lot better.

 

I made it it half way through episode 2. So far the first season was much better. Slow and a little too complex

Who just finished watching the finale? Kinda disappointed that the story wasn't concluded as finitely as i was hoping. I really hoped Frank had made it, i liked him, but he went out fighting as he should. Though the ending with Anne, Jordan, and Nails just disappearing into the crowd, i was hoping for more.

Just got around to finishing Season 1 during a marathon watching session at the station. Fucking amazing acting in that show. I haven't started season 2 but from everyone I've talked to, they say it isn't quite as good as the first season. I'm still going to watch it but I don't see how it can get any better than season 1. I love shows / movies that are dialogue driven. McConaughey's character was unbelievably good acting.

 

The characters and acting is still very good in Season 2, but the storyline was more complicated than it needed to be and almost secondary to the show. It was disappointing to me in comparison to Season 1. I found myself not caring about finding out who the real "bad guys" are, unlike the first Season. The writing and directing is still very good, don't get me wrong, it was worth watching, but I really hope they are able to recreate the magic from Season 1 into Season 3.

 

That's what most everyone has said that has watched it. After finishing season 1 I can see how hard it would be to improve.

 

Everything about season one was on point. Acting was as good as it gets.

Season 2 was Waaaaay over complicated. It was a chore to follow. Don't get me wrong, I like some depth but I don't want to have to give my brain a workout just to follow characters I didn't really care about.

I thought the acting in season two was just okay. Vaughn was good but Colin ferrel was terrible

 

The Vince Vaughn I saw the best I have ever seen him. It was funny, after True Detective was over they were showing Wedding Crashers on HBO2, interesting to see the huge change in persona between the two. His performance and level of intensity couldn't ever touch what Mcconaughey exhibited, but it came really damn close. Especially the scene between him and Collin Ferrell at the beginning of the last episode at the breakfast table, both pointing guns under the table, amazing.

I would say this season was just as 'complicated' as the season 1 storyline. It just wasn't as elegantly written, and i was not as invested in the outcome of the characters as Rust and Cole in season 1.

I really didint like the sad ending. I know every ending cant be a happy one, but it reminded me of the ending of Once Upon a time in the West, where Charles Bronson falls off the horse at the end. Ray, went into the woods and got killed for nothing when the message wasnt sent. Frank got stabbed by Mexicans over bullshit. Jordan and Anne? Just to wonder the earth with Ray's baby.

Or was it Frank's child?

And what happened with the blue diamonds?
