Nothing tells me a company is making a quality product than when they promise it can safely hold 800lbs 4' above the trucks center of gravity.

There's an Amazon seller with what appears to be identical to this Trumgeta brand and the rail style rack. A few poor reviews and what looks like this style of product similar to "open mold" has me waiting for Yakima having landing pad style mounts in the works. In a lot of applications made of Chineseum can be fine but I'm going for Yakima's reputation and past experience.

When landing pad types come out I'll also have the ideal for me pair of crossbars type. I haven't yet experienced with associates' rigs or comments where these square overlander types don't seem to be noise makers, dirt and wind collectors. I like the idea of the rack not even there when not needed.

I will never buy anything from Trumgeta.

They had a thread on the Tacoma4g forums where they said to buy directly from them and not Amazon so they could provide "proper support" for their products which they somehow couldn't do through Amazon. I'm talking about their official Amazon store, not some 3rd party sellers

It was pointed out multiple times in the thread that this is most likely because Amazon has a better return policy. They gave some flimsy excuses and kept saying "It's so we can give our customers proper support which we can't do on Amazon". They eventually just deleted the post because it made them look REALLY bad.

I would like to see what Yakima version you’re referring to. I 100% agree, I’ve always been satisfied with my Yakima products.

Right now they only have traditional tower types for the 4th gen, and the "180" I think bb5 part # are now available. You can still get round bars where the current towers have adapters, and 3 different modern shaped bars. On the bars.... Two of the current 4 offerings have t-slots. That opens up a range of crossbar accessories, but also facilitates platform and basket type racks.

The "landing pad" is latest or current version of the quick release to fixed mount they've long had originally made for tracks. My week old memo says landing pads are in finally development for the 4th gen.

At one point Yakima leveraged their testing in marketing which they might not do anymore, but they clearly test, and have earned their dominance for roof racks. I could be changed if the stuff made of Chinesium better illustrated their testing and service. I can still use Yakima stuff I bought in 1980 and each decade since.

The towers for landing pad and clip to roof are different models but they use same crossbars. A strategy I have in mind if landing pad type are not released soon is I could resell towers at a later date. When I had the predecessor to this family on my 4Runner we had Q towers too. I liked the solid and same on and off but towers and clips are not that hard to deal with.

The Yakima site seems fixed after maybe 10-20 days ago it started saying no crossbar compatibility. It will give you options but just not for SkyLine towers yet.
