You're welcome, I wasn't sure if someone else had mentioned it yet. Once I did that I've actually started to like the cover.

Yep..good eye. The rubber foot on the Tonneau was resting firmly on the cleat holding it up just enough to let in water. It hits in cleat position 1 and position 2 if you are counting from back to front on the rail.

    Thanks!

Yes, I've been pretty critical of it...but it is solid. Not ideal, but I'm learning to appreciate it. I had to take it off a couple times already to carry loads. I use my truck daily for work, and now that I have it somewhat organized with cargo bar and my gear it's nice to have.

You need a 12mm socket and it folds up with straps to keep it together. There is a third door catch that needs to be released and then you just pick it up. It's bulky and heavy, but I lift it off by myself. ...you have to be standing in bed to do it alone though.

Not sure the placement matters. I didn't have the cleats in and was still getting water in the bed. All really a moot point anyways as the manual even says it's not watertight and to take care with stuff that can be damaged by water.

Is this how the factory covers are installed?

YEP and I am glad I did not order one with a tonneau that needs that kind of cutting and messing with ti install. Mine will install using clamps on the rails.

Looks like a subpar afterthought as far as aesthetic finish goes.

I think I'm going to wait for the BakFlip F1, they don't need to cut anything for that install do they?

Don't know. I will be ordering a Truxport when they are ready. I prefer the vinyl to the hard stuff. For weight reasons as well as being able to use the whole bed or a portion.

Had that exact cover on our F150, I did like it but I prefer the hard covers.

The BakFlips do allow you to use all or a portion of the bed as well. Sure when you fold it all the way up it blocks your back window but if i need to use the full bed chances are whatever is in there will be blocking my view regardless! Plus, have a backup camera if an when I need to reverse with a full bed.

    EDIT:
By looking at their website they have, in the past, used the existing deck rail system in the Tacomas to install the covers. That's encouraging.

So I think it comes down to the bak flip or the fold a cover. I like the functionality of the fold a cover but I like the ability to use the entire bed with the bak flip. Torn

Just to inform those who are considering getting the factory cover… If it is not on your truck already, I was told it cannot be ordered. I tried to buy one since none of the trucks in my color came with them and was told I had to buy aftermarket and that the factory would not ship these out individually. This sounds made up, but its something to be aware of. If that is the cover you want, get it on the truck when you buy or (supposedly) not at all.

Not made up. Posted repeatedly. Look how they have to chop up the rails to install it...

Prolly cause no one else will cut the bed all up like that.

Go for it, brother. It just didn't seem to me like Toyota was doing us any favors by throwing it on there, price-wise. For about the same price, we could find one that suits our specific needs and do an install without messing with any of the factory settings. It looks smooth, but if you haven't seen one on the lot that they left in the "open" position for too long, think twice. As I drove away in my new truck, I noticed the truck I test drove the day before now had the cover down. The cover was massively warped and did not look good at all… and this was BRAND.NEW. Just my .02 but I decided to look elsewhere. Yours is going to look AMAZING!

BTW if I can swing by the dealer this week and snap a pick of that cover-warp, I will.
