Well I had someone looking over my shoulder this afternoon.

My mom and I were out doing a little christmas shopping when my brakes started to sound a little funny almost like a little grinding. But it wasnt enough to really worry about it yet i thought. So we continue on our shopping. Well were heading down this slight hill and the light switches to red. I go to press on the brakes and they start this little grinding again.. and than all of a sudden brake fully compresses and I have practically no brakes at all. Thank god there was no one in front of me so I slam on the horn and turn my four ways on and proceed to roll right through the red light. We almost hit a car that was turning. I checked the brake fuel level and everything was fine its really odd.

Anyways guys i had a little angel over my shoulder today and thank god no one got hurt.

I was planning on getting the parts to replace both the pads and the shoes today honestly but now I can't get the truck in the garage to do the work at its 14F outside. Trucks at the shop and we are darn lucky!

    Thanks for letting me share!

Glad you came out alright. Next time remember you also have an e-brake to pull and downshifting can help slow you down as well.

Interested to hear what the shop finds:popcorn:

Thanks I did as you mentioned. So here is what the shop found

At some point I had lost one of the brake pads which resulted in the grinding that i felt in the brakes than as we came to the stop on sunday the other pad must have totally failed which resulted in not one but both callipers being totally shot the pistons were bent from when I had slammed on the brakes to bring us to a stop.

so the resulting total was 584.00 for

    Rotors
    Pads
    Callipers
    + 2 hours shop time.

Sean at Complete car care in Waukesha Wisconsin on Sunset is a really honest to god mechanic. My parents have brought all of our cars to him and he's like a member of the family.

Result- Happy customer and i thank god that the situation ended with just a brake job instead of a wrecked truck or someone dead.
