I think it was maybe designed to be 'weak'...in the sense that the side rails will (hopefully) give before the composite beds does if a lot of shearing force is applied via heavy object being strapped down and some gnarly driving.

I can store the Lomax cover in my back seat as I have done when I had an emergency.

They have the Stance version if you want it to flip up like the others... Otherwise it takes 30 seconds to remove for full bed access without blocking the back window.

    Backflip. Zero disappointment.
Wow. My backflip leaks close to zero. And that's been driving and sitting in the downpours of Utah this year.
Was yours an install issue? Mine has been rock solid and I would highly recommend

Yes. Love it. Looks great, only took about an hour to install. I have the exact same one in the OP first post.

I have had to do that more times than I would have thought. 8 ft beds werent a big deal, these little dinky 5 ft beds can be problematic if you have to pick up a customers engine drive welder and run it in to your repair techs.

No money, all went to truck...
Yup, mine doesn't leak hardly at all. If it leaks, I would check installation. It's possible something isn't sitting correctly.

Where you win with any back flip is the fact that you can open up pretty much your entire bed without having to take off cover. That's the win.

BakFlip G2. Got it on sale at the BakFlip store on Amazon for $721 USD. I've seen it for that price a couple of times since.
Easy for one person to install. It took me a couple of hours but I went with the slow and careful approach :)
    Couldn't be happier.

Mine was originally professionally installed and I’ve installed the others. Same results. Bak even had me take off the original and put it back on.

I have/had the Lomax. Got a great deal from @GotExhaust. Recently got an RLD cap, but I still haven't sold the Lomax. Its so clean and with the pop n lock or similar all your tools and stuff are safe. I had no issue with my rails and its pops on and off in seconds. Also camping its pretty sturdy, I toss a ton of stuff on the bed and it supports a good bit of weight and doesn't really show any damage. There may be other brands, but I think the low profile Lomax looks great.

Ah yes for all those times you impulse buy large expensive appliances.......
As for were to put the cover, tie it down on top of your impulse bought appliances, or next to them in the bed as most appliances down take up the full bed width.
