Hello Everyone, I am a Tacoma owner living in the coast Mexico and completely clueless about parts and mechanics. From my mechanic I know that my 4x4 has been having problems because of the valves being battered. He has been able to clean them the 2 past years and then the 4x4 comes in again, but this time he wasn't able to do it and unfortunately we are out of 4x4 just after the hurricane with the roads destroyed. Not a good time, it is exactly when I need my 4x4. : ( If any of you kind Tacoma enthusiast souls could help this mechanic ignorant find the piece, I will be eternally grateful. I have purchased two valves that do not fit my vehicle even though they appear on EBay as being the part that fits my vehicle. So it has been very frustrating because I have already thrown away $315 USD for nothing. OK, it is my fault for being such an ignorant fool and trusting whatever comes up as my required part, but still, you have to feel some compassion for a 50 year old female trying to live a rustic life in the middle of nowhere. Any way, I am attaching the picture of the part that we really need, also the pictures of the parts I have bought. Maybe some one can illuminate me, because I have tried to research the name of the part I need and it seems it is a vacuum switching valve or a solenoid valve? Forgive my total ignorance. I am more of an artist and a poet, not mechanically oriented. But one last thing, I DO LOVE MY TACOMA, her name is WHITE BUFFALA and I don't have eyes for any other kind of car in the world. Just Toyota Tacomas. That is the only vehicle ever made I am interested in. Truly, Hahaha. Offer me a deluxe vehicle, nope, I only want good old Tacomas. Mine has been my life saviour across rivers and up the worst dirt roads you guys do not even know they possibly exist. Thank you kindly to everyone that reads me! You will be my Angels!

Hello evanspen06 and Dm93, I am so sorry to trouble you again. I found the valve by the part number you referred. My new mechanic (that is not nearly as good as my old : () insatlled that vaccum valve, but my 4x4 is still having problems. He dismounted everything and cleaned and greased, changed the oil for the differential. I want to also change the other blue valve, which is a bit different, but I am having trouble finding the number part. The guy at the parts shop, found something similar but without the cilinder, and I am afraid to order because it looks like the wrong part, even though they tell me it is the same. I truly appreciate your help, will be eternally grateful to you!!! Smiles from Mexico!!!

I've done a mod or two
You can put the cylinder on that new solenoid, it is just a little air filter element

    Excellent, that's what I'll do!
Do you guys know why 4x4 may be engaging but not being powerful enough?
Supposedly it's already engaging but I can not go up in one particularly steep uphill that Inused to be able to go up

I suppose if the vacuum canister line has a vacuum leak or if the check valve is bad that could happen maybe. The front differential would just slip out of engagement as engine load increases and vacuum goes down
