I didn't read 12 pages so I'm not sure if this has already been suggested, but can you take the crates apart and reassemble them in the back seat? That's how my wire crates work.

here’s our cheap dog that was found on the street.

And in the spirit of the thread here is her crate setup for ski season (she rides in the cab but we crate her when we’re on the hill so she doesn’t get cold). Sorry couldn’t find a pic of it in the bed but you get the idea.

and here’s the platform i built for her in the backseat.

If you're not reading the entire thread you're missing out. But if you're in a time crunch, here's the highlights:

OP's girlfriend's super expensive, super secret doggos will only fit in one size of crash tested crate that can't really be modified, and said crates must go in the backseat of her Tacoma.

We're all a bunch of meanies and not helpful.

Also, lots of pics of doggos....none of the OP's girlfriend's doggos.

Yes, the less they can bounce around in a roll over, the better. Floor space is large enough for them to lay down comfortably. Plenty of working dogs are transported in crates they cannot stand in. If you were talking about 4 plus hours without getting out I would agree, but you can stop and let them out on long trips. Just don't use the crates to fly.

I had my 70lb GSP's in intermediate Ruff Tuffs (side by side in my bed with a cap) and they fit just fine. They shouldn't be able to fully stand up. They could lay down just fine. I think you could go down one size and would probably be fine. Or just get a smaller one for the 34lb dog.
