I don't see anything about crash rated on the Ruffland page, just marketing BS with nothing to back it up. At best they are pulling an the egg carton theory that is used to justify not having seat belts on busses, problem is that theory is proven to be inferior to restraints.

Turns out the OPs crates fail crash testing. https://www.trainyourcanine.net/cra...ogs-to-keep-your-canine-safe-while-traveling/

Get harness. Or, cut the door off and let the truck door keep the dogs in. Or,

The gunner G1 is close enough and should fit https://gunner.com/products/g1-kennel

I get the feeling these dogs will die going from internal dimensions of 26x17 to 21.75x14.5.

Trade in the girlfriend for one with smaller dogs for you to haul.

Trade in the truck for a larger one.

Thanks, I think you are right. I just assumed there would be custom everything on the market including door panels. Live and learn. Didn't expect the level of immaturity on the site. I wanted to talk about working on my truck but the responses make me feel like I'm on Facebook. I didn't expect the level of vitriol and the lack of moderation but I guess I got what I paid for.
As to kids in crates and dog vs. crate survival, I'm not sure if you are being serious but the crate is something you buy to protect the dog. You don't buy a crash tested crate so the crate can survive the crash. I don't think we'll see kids in car crates anytime soon. Seat belts work with kids and seat belts are free with the vehicle. Dogs get hurt very easily in car crashes, and even if they survive the crash they tend to get hurt in traffic or run off after. We have lots of time invested in these dogs so we go a bit overboard to protect them.

The type of dogs is irrelevant. If I wanted to talk about dogs I'd post on a dog forum. Was hoping for truck advice. I live with my girlfriend. They are her dogs and it's her truck. I'm on here trying to help her because I thought this forum would be more helpful than her dog forums. lol I was very, very wrong about that.

People react to the language used, and the way you come across. I ignored the OP so i dont have to read his blather anymore. The story changes constantly. But this thread has become entertaining.

He needs to take some of her midol, and get to work on figuring out the solution. Which has already been presented here multiple times

How is the type of dog irrelevant. If they are small dogs, perhaps you could get smaller crates. Based on what you are giving us to work with here, it is hard to gauge your level of intelligence. Keep whining about your girlfriend’s truck being too small for your girlfriend’s dog cages for her expensive dogs though, it is entertaining.

Type of dog doesn't matter because you don't buy Chesapeake Bay Retriever crates and different crates for black labs. Crates are purchased based on the size of the dog.

So you are saying we should get smaller crates? Why didn't we think of that? Other than this being posted/discussed about a dozen times in this very thread no one has mentioned it. I can't thank you enough. Problem solved, lets close this sucker.

so is there a way you can tell us the size of the dog while maintaining the secrecy about the breed? or would that give it away?

Sure, one dog is 20" tall at the shoulders and 40 lbs. The other is 19" tall and 34 lbs. They are both hunting dogs. Excited to see how that is going to help you figure this out..
