Trying to tame the wind noise

The wind noise is a bit harsh in the 'new' Tacoma, so I thought I'd try something today. It may have helped a bit, but not sure. I cut a small slit in the weatherstrips on all four doors today and inserted a plastic hose (the kind for icemakers, etc.). I shot silicone spray inside the w/s through the vent holes in the w/s. I thought it would make the w/s strip 'bulkier', for want of a better word.

If you shut the door on a sheet of paper inserted between the w/s's, then pull the paper, it should pull hard, showing that the w/s is making good contact with the body. The paper pulled easy, especially on the rear doors. On the rear doors, I inserted it in the top, rearward to the bottom of the doors. On the front doors, it's from the rear corner to the front curve downward, and from the rear corner down the rear to the bottom. The paper pulled harder, but I'm still hearing wind noise on the highway on a windy day.

The pictures show the plastic tube going into the w/s, and also a small machine screw inserted in the end of the hose to give it a smoother end to help it into the w/s. Any other ideas for quieting the noise? The w/s isn't solidly attached to the door, only every few inches with plastic tabs. Not something I expected.WS hose (1).jpg WS hose (2).jpg

I need more road noise to try and drown out the interior rattles, creaks, pops, and buzzing (2015)! There are a lot of threads here on wind noise and cab/door gasket modifications. Good luck.

They do have redesigned seals to fix this problem, covered under 3/36 before the redesign dealers were doing a similar mod

I believe the redesigned door seals are for the crosswind "Kazoo" noise TSB. The dealer will have to here it making the noise before they will replace them. If you have regular wind noise, they will probably say it is normal for the truck. However, the new thicker gaskets might help reduce the noise in the cabin, but I doubt Toyota will foot the bill. IIRC, I saw them on line for around $48 each. The tubing in the seal works for some, but not for others.

There's a fresh air vent or something right behind the rear panel on access cabs. That's the source of a lot of noise. I have my panel removed because I'm building something else. It's pretty noisy inside the cab now.

Well ain't this some sh*t. I literally was just in at the dealership before my 3/36 ended and specifically asked if there were any outstanding TSB's for my truck. They said no. I use the drip line fix but some new/upgraded weatherstripping would've been nice.

Shitty situation, but honestly unless you really have a good relationship with your advisor it's hard because technically it's only a bulletin for a failed part.

You can always call Toyota and ask for goodwill/assistance on it.

Doughnut, thanks for the info on the vent. I'll check it out tomorrow.

I looked for a vent, but couldn't see any from the inside, just the rear seats. I crawled under the truck and couldn't see any between the cab and box. Do they all have vents?
