There are several. The early MYs had three different ECU IDs and maybe another one the way.

Do you happen to have the TSB numbers for the fuel pump and radar issues?

Fuel pump is a recall. You should have a letter or be able to look that up on Toyota site with vin#

    Yeah.
My understanding is that these are recalls or safety campaigns, not TSB's. I got notices in the mail. They don't do that for TSB's. If you have the phone app, you should be able to see if your truck is affected.

If you want it, attached are the work instructions for the pump recall.

just updated the 2019 to 04b33, with techstream at home, myself. idling now, will test drive later. hoping this is all you guys say it is. gave up my OVtune for the newest ecu update from toyota (until ov tune can update his packs, and tune, for the new ecu cal). really hope this ends, or slows the gear hunting (especially in cruise). F'ing HATE THAT, ABOUT THIS TRUCK! thanks to all that helped, and gave info, and support. Ski

Well IIRC from ovtune thread, when you clear all the values after flashing, the ecu begins its learning process, hence the rough startup and first miles of use.

There is nothing in the TSB instructions that specifically tells the techs to do the Resets. Even in TSB-0134-16 which is just about the flash process.

I don't think the techs reset mine. The truck drove smoothe when I picked it up.... unless they drove around a bit afterwards.

Some places will do a test drive and after the first 10mi or so and the first shut down, a big part of the settling is done.

Since my first run with the Resets, I'm a fan of setting that baseline myself.

    Running 235/85r16 32in tires.

I had the TSB done on Tuesday when I went in for 25k mile service. I mentioned it when I set up the appt and seemed like it would be no problem. Had the TSB printed out and when I started describing the issue to the service manager he just say "we know, we have done a lot of these, no problem".

So far so good, feels more responsive and haven't noticed as much gear hunting but don't have many miles on it yet.

test drove about 35 miles, mixed rural driving, cruise, no cruise, easy pedal, heavy pedal, seems to have the quick shift from 3-4th like one of the OVtune, 1.05 or early 2.0 beta tunes (but, not as bad). i know it needs to settle and shake out a bit... at least 250-500 miles.

seems to still hunt for gears a bit but, nowhere near how bad it was (part of that will be the LV's developing). also, the shifts when unlocking the converter, or down shift to 5th, or even 4th, on inclines, doesnt seem as violent. even on cruise it feels better. averaged 25.5 mpg after i filled up (rec fuel), for the 17 mile drive home. again, not a large mileage test, or comparison.

my dream tune would be a premium fuel tune (i only use 91 octane non ethanol rec fuel), no HUGE RUSH of power at 3500rpms like the "vtech YO, hit" just nice and linear, with equal upshifts, holding each gear progressively longer, no getting into 5th below 50 mph or so, & no getting into 6th, until above 60 or so. ect power up on the tune, and ect, s-mode for gear lock/towing.

now to wait for ov, to update tune packs for 04b33, & the smart ones in the group to develop a "canned tune" for it. & also for ov to complete the 2.0 for 04b33 with ect, power, tow/gear lock.

hey, a guy can dream, cant he? Ski

    Very interesting statement there!

I've seen it mentioned quite a bit by the 04B33 junkies that this TSB tune has some OVT feelz. I got the same impression with 04B14. It felt pretty close except that for whatever reason, Toyota refuses to unleash the bottom end. Sub-3,500.

Therefore, no matter what, the tune is king, esp on top of this base.

Just scheduled mine for the 17th... I have to "complain" when I bring it in.

Apparently, I'm in phase 9 for the Fuel pump recall, so that puts in me mid-March for getting it replaced, I think I have an oil change about then so shouldn't be too bad.

Does anybody know if there is a way to actually check and see if the ecu update was done?

I just picked up the truck after getting the recall done. Told them about the hunting, etc, plus they have a record that I’ve brought it to them for this before. Svc mgr said they would take care of it. Ok....

7hrs later, truck is ready so I bring back the loaner and go in the cashier office to get the paper work done. Nothing on the paperwork about it being done. Recall is on there, 13 point BS check, nothing on the ecu update. They called the svc advisor and he comes in and assured me it’s done even though not on the paperwork. Uhh..ok.

I know on the TSB they have to put a “authorized modification sticker” under the hood”. Open the hood at home, not there. Didn’t drive it on the highway so I didn't check it. Any ideas?

Mine was only there for the TSB and the service sheet says "misc - checked for update for ECM" and "performed TSB-0092-20 reprogram ECM". I was unaware of any sticker. I will need to check on that.
