Got my service done today and had the printout for the TSB update with me when I came in. Asked for my cousin to do the service and asked him to do the TSB flash. I also explained to the service advisor what I wanted done. Got the call and went to pick it up. Got in and an immediate change in how it runs for the better. I have to hold back on the pedal now since the change in shift patterns is very noticeable and feels like it should. Got home and installed my Carista reader and ran the Carista app and confirmed that I did get the update.

Those are warranty codes sent in to Toyota by the dealership for warranty claim reimbursement.

    T1 & T2 are problem codes:

    T1 is nature of problem
    T2 is cause of problem

    In the case of TSB-0092-20

T1 26 = Abnormal shift point (including improper kick down)
    T2 99 = "Other"

I don't remember if I've seen this question yet so, with the update what does the ect button add or take away from it? I haven't gotten around to getting it yet just a question.

1 day update, love the better shifting and more power. Came around a corner and didn't get the boggy, hesitant feeling, it downshifted 1 gear and pulled through not like before and upshifted like it should. I know the MPG will be low since I am in the process of "learning" the new attitude of the truck. I am very happy with it. I need to keep my foot off the little pedal and get used to it myself. As mentioned earlier, I did notice that the valve timing seems to be more advanced and can hear the tappets when idling more. I always use 91 octane on my truck so I don't know if that may be related to it. No more gear hunting! I intend to run this till it settles and maybe look at options VF Tuner may be able to improve on it. I had to let off the pedal leaving a streetlight as I had already hit the speed limit and the cars behind me were still 50 yards behind. Haven't tried with ECT yet, but I'm sure it has been improved. No 55 mph roads where I'm at. Loving this ECU update.

I went in for my 5k service today and mentioned the constant shifting and searching for gears, asked if they could do anything about it. I really didn’t mind the shifting before but TW and this thread are bad influences. Lol. The service writer said he thought there was an update for the Tacoma (that surprised me). When he came to me to sign the paperwork he told me they had flashed the ECM. :woot:

I could tell the truck drove different as soon as I left the parking lot! The accelerator is much more responsive, no “dead pedal” feeling when you first press on it and it seems more like a wired throttle as you increase pressure. The transmission shifting is also noticeably different. Where before it would quickly go through gears and hit 6th by 30-35 mph, it now holds 1-4 a little longer and drops into 5th about 40-45. It will stay in 5th without feathering the throttle. Most of my drive home was on urban roads with 45 mph zones, the truck seemed very responsive staying in 5th and only went into 6th at 50 and above as far as I can tell. I’ve only got about 20 miles total on the new flash but I’m impressed so far! :bananadance:

Just updated to 04b33. I would say it is just about equal to 04b31+ovtune 2.0. Different but about the same quality tune. The tsb is smoother and is better in cruise control. Butt dyno says 2.0 makes slightly more power.

I had this done yesterday. My '17 drives like the '21 they loaned me while they were doing the frame goop thing. I am glad I asked. No flak from the dealer either, they were happy to do it.

I had this update done to my 2020 Limited a few days ago. I noticed a an improvement when I drove away, and after a few days it drives like a whole different truck.
I think Toyota should make this TSB a recall instead of a warranty issue only when owners complain because most probably don't know about it.

What goop thing? Was that a tsb or did you pay extra for it afterwards?

Whatever it is they do to the frame as part of the rust warranty. They mentioned it at a service appointment. It was free and they handed me the keys to a brand new truck to drive for a week, I asked few questions...

Where do I find the sticker that supposed to be installed when finished? I could feel a difference in the 20 mile ride home. Various hills and stop and go's along the way.
