Mine has done that since new...and STILL does that after this TSB. Can't stand to drive mine on the Interstate. Luckily, I really don't have to.

I does, however, perform better at lower speeds with the TSB.

I go in on the 3rd to get the fuel pump recall done and have asked them to do this TSB so we will see.

In response to people getting push back from service writers. The only reason I can think of why they don't want to do it is because they get a percentage or bonuses for the amount of hours they write and they don't want to waste their time on a measley .4 hours.

A measly 0.4hrs for 10min of work shouldn't be scoffed at, esp when it is just a few button pushes and zero actual labor. The change for the owners is generally pretty significant for that 10min of effort.

FWIW, my 2021 TRD OR will downshift at 70mph if a butterfly flies in front of me.

I agree. I worked at a Lexus dealership in college as a porter. Greeted customers, showed them to a service writer, moved cars around, etc. The service writers would get mad if by the luck of the draw they got too many oil changes and not the higher hour/more money items like brake jobs and the like.

I had the same gig during college but with another car make. It really opens your eyes to see the "other side" of the car business.

the Kdmax (via OV tune hardware/software) really helps with the driveability, and gear holding, without massive multiple gear downshifts. when it does downshift, it is softer, and stepped so, you dont have those violent shifts, up and down. Your results may vary. Ski

Is there a big hit in gas mileage over stock or compared to OVTune?

Well I had the TSB done a few months ago. From the dealer and a week after it was great. Now its back to what it was doing. Once shifting to 3rd it lugs, down shifts back to second and over and over....I’m just about over this truck. Got an estimate from Carmax for 40K....just might take it

And another brand truck will have another quirk and that one may not be a quirk it might be a real problem. The grass isn’t always greener. Once you focus on something you can’t forget it. Before I came on Tacoma world I didn’t even think about the trans at all . I just turned some music on and drove. Tacoma’s have so many positives that everyone should focus on the good things instead. Just enjoy the truck, use the hell out of it and and take good care of it. When it really is time to sell you will sell it fast and get top dollar for it. Plus they look awesome.

I'm going in May 6 for the fuel pump and TSB. I really like my truck and have no complaints with its drivetrain, but at this point I'm too curious not to get the ECU flash. Besides, I want my 2019 to be as updated as possible.

same, or slightly better than stock/ovt, IF you can keep your foot off the fun flap. Ski

Your right. But I’m at the point this is just too annoying to drive. Already have my next vehicle on order for a June delivery

Thanks for the heads up. I’m really not interested in a flash. I would be worried about warranty issues down the road. I shouldn’t have to spend money to fix a trucks design flaws. In all honesty I wasn’t in love with the truck when I bought it. I just wanted out of my Ford. Live and learn

Im debating in doing this tsb and TSB-0124-20 for the Driveline Vibration Under Deceleration Around 30 - 10 mph (feels like my brakes are warped but I barely have 7k on the odo). I have a 2020 tdr pro

I did the flash on mine earlier this year, worked great at first then after a while it slowly got worse also. Although, I don’t think it’s nearly as bad as the original factory software my ‘19 came programmed with. I’m from the Bay also and I drive 17 every day, it’s freaking annoying but ECT mode helps a lot. All in all I really like my truck but what really bothers me is how god awful slow it down shifts when you floor it. But, it’s way better than my old POS XJ so who cares. Plus Tacomas have all the nice aftermarket goodies imaginable so I’ll hopefully keep rocking mine...as long as I can get through a few more years of having car seats in the back!

    A few.
I had the tsb done back in november. It has fallen off some compared to what is was when I first got it. Does have some excessive shifting at times still but still better than before.

Yep I drive 17 couple of times a week. The first button I press after starting the truck is the ECT. That has helped a lot. But it still isn’t right. Is there even any other manufacturer in this day and age that still uses a 6 speed transmission?
