It is not part of this TSB or the flashing process TSB-0134-16. It seems spotty if some dealers do it.

100mi is still pretty early in as even with the LV reset, it can take about 400mi for the AT to fully settle.

So what I did. I downloaded the TSB and read the list of issues. I then went to the dealer with the TSB in hand and told the technician exactly what my truck was doing in relation to the issues described in the TSB. I then mentioned that I had called corporate first to ask them why this was happening and if this would remedy the issues. Technician right away took the TSB with my service order and re-flashed it. Another friend of mine did the same thing with his but he had a shell, bumper and some other mods on his and the dealer refused to do it. I told them again to go to another dealer and relay the same information I did. He was told that any modifications beyond "stock" ( thier desecration) that they would not do it. I don't know if that's just in my area or wherever else but it worked for me before I put the cap on and some other things. I did a pretty good expedition with a lot of winding mountain roads and noticed a huge difference from stock. I think that Toyota knows about the issues but because of gas consumption requirements they don't want to do it. Towing my trailer up 395/108 and trails I was getting right around 21 miles per gallon. I'm sure it dropped from the trail runs.I honestly don't care about mpgs but I did notice the difference from city driving at 16. Hoping that information helps everybody else trying to resolve the performance issues.

    Thank you.

My truck is a V6, which I didn't mention before. Also I bought it new in July of 2017, and had it back to the dealer early on with the same complaint, maybe 2018? They did a tsb flash at that point that I think was 04B05. It seemed great for a few days afterward but then went right back to the way it was. I can't believe they haven't improved anything since, I figured at some point they would.

If this tsb for the current models genuinely fixes the driveability I can't understand why they wouldn't release the same programing for the earlier models. I hope they do, I'd prefer that to aftermarket tuning if possible but I'm close to considering it as an alternative.

I mentioned before I had a service appt coming up. That was today, I was told the tech drove my truck and found no issues with the shift behavior and general sluggishness. I'm assuming I received that response because there isn't anything they can do about it.

You're probably on 04B04. 04B05 exists and should be coming with a new or revised TSB soon.

All Taco have new TSB updates except for the 2018s ATs. Still though, these latest TSB are no miracle cures unfortunately. They're better than previous, but still not what we should have gotten from the factory.

At this point, yes. Although, we do not yet have the file to update to 04B05 just yet.

I'm sure you don't want to say a timeframe on this, but will the update become available relatively soon do you think?

Sucks having a 2021. You'd assume they'd have this fix applied to 'em from factory but I still get gear hunting on the slightest incline. And can't update since the new TSB is only for older models.

I have no idea. I keep checking the nhtsa.gov site.

There is a TSB for the 2021 ATs. As far as we know, it only addresses Crawl Control.

So this is strange. I had a 2017 and it would hunt gears a bit going up hills and not stick to a specific gear. I got a 2021 (right off the lot) and all of that went away, it was like a totally different transmission.

I had my dealer do TSB 0092-20 today on my 2020 TRD Pro

No problems asking for it and getting it done, but I did provide a copy of the TSB.

Here is the new sticker that was placed under the hood.

I really feel bad for you guys and have yet to see any powertrain TSBs for the 2.7ls. While your engine is generally good to go, you're suffering the same crap with the AT.

From what I have heard, opening cases with corporate to note your displeasure / issues is the only way to get attention. If enough folks do it, then you may get some action.

Had this done (2020 OR), used the key words like "gear hunting, uphill etc". On the final service note, it said technician drove the car, experienced the same issue and updated mine to the newest version.

Night and day difference. My goodness. Best thing that I had the biggest issue with is the throttle response. It's so much improved. Before hand I felt like I had to go 3/4 of the gas pedal just to get started, now it's maybe 10% and I can get going right away.

Highly recommend everyone asking their dealers for this update.
