Do you mean the CUW files? If so, yes.

If you mean that actual TSBs at the dealer? Yes, also. There have been no new ones, even though 04B05 (2016 - 2017 AT) and 04A62 (2018 AT) are out in the wild. All other MYs and transmissions are the latest known.

    Hello all,

After reading this thread, I decided to make an appointment with the Toyota service center in Edmonds WA to have them flash this TSB on my 2019 TRD Sport in hopes of curing the low speed shifting issue I'm having.

Naturally, they said were unable to replicate the shifting issue despite it happening daily to me. I additionally asked them to perform a drain and fill of the trans fluid to verify if it was at spec to which they refused to do saying that they checked it electronically.

I asked them to verify what version the ECU is currently at hoping that it would help verify if the ECU has been updated. They were unable to tell me what version my ECU was at as well.

After 4 hours of waiting for them to accomplish anything (besides over inflating my tires for some reason), I lost all confidence in their service center and left.

Can you recommend a method of checking/performing this TSB? Even if it is a recommendation to another service center?

Had mine done at Titus Will Toyota in Tacoma during one of my free oil changes. I told them I knew about the TSB update and wanted it installed. I could tell they didn't want to do it but I insisted. The work order said something like "Customer knew about TSB XXX update" lol. No idea why it's gotta be so hard. Good luck.

Are you able to do this TSB on earlier MYs?

2018s can be updated with a different file using TS (04A60 to 04A61). I haven't looked at the NTHSA site in a while, but as far as I know, the 2016 through 2018 ATs still don't have an update beyond the first one. Everyone else is basically on the same calibration ( 2016 through 2023 MTs and 2019 through 2023 ATs ).

For anyone interested. I had this TSB applied and it was better but still not great. I have since added a KDMAX "lite throttle" tune and it is almost as nice as my 5th Gen 4Runner.

So, I see that supposedly this TSB has been applied to current new vehicles. But yet, my new '23 trdor has the same issues described in the beginning of this thread. Constantly down shifting on the highway, not downshifting when it should on side roads when going up and down hills, lunging forward a bit when coming to a stop as it downshifts, etc. Without reading all 54 pages of this thread, is there anything I can do with a new vehicle still under warranty?

    1. Give it a bit more time to learn your driving habits.
    2. Get a aftermarket tune.
    3. Trade it in on a 4th gen at some point in the future.
    4. Unfortunately, consider something else and sell it.

Eh, it's not a deal breaker for me. It's just weird after seeing so many people happy with the tab update

Whatever is on my ‘23 is better than previous ones I’ve experienced. It’s not great, but comparably better. The hills still give it issues, but the hunting is minimal. I’ll still get a tune, but I’m just glad people have more options.

Believe me, the TSB does wonders and makes the truck much more drivable, but it isn't perfect. It's just much better than before. If you haven't experienced the truck before they started applying the update, then just imagine it being even worse than you're experiencing now.

Does this tsb apply to the 2023 tacoma? I'm having the issue now at 29k miles.

No, just 2019 and 2020. Not sure about earlier models.

With the TSB, it's a lot better than it was, but still not great. Mine still hunts gears, it just does it without any delay which is okay I guess.

If you think something changed recently, check your transmission fluid level.

It did change the transmission fluid recently. I actually had the transmission fluid done at 15k miles by the dealer out of obsession with maintenance during the break in time. Everything was great until about 29k miles on the truck. I will however bring it in to the dealer on Tuesday to have them go through it and recheck fluid levels.

I notice better driving in "ect power" mode. But the overall stumbling is still present.

Is the stumbling these trucks get what you mean by hunting gears?
