When I'm accelerating slowly, mine will shift up around 35mph, not sure which gear it takes, but the engine drops to 1500RPM where there is no power. I wasn't done accelerating, so it has to immediately downshift to the gear it was just in. Post TSB it does this process almost instantly. Pre-TSB it would hesitate for a second in the higher gear.

Okay yeah I have this as well. I did unplug the battery to restart the learn adapt. Mine definitely likes to finds bigger gears quickly.

I noticed that the traction control is what causes hesitation during acceleration as well. It's almost like the computer is telling the engine/transmission to not give it the beans when I'm trying to give it the beans. It will take a second or two then finally decide to down shift into the proper gear.

I turned off traction control (long press button for >3 seconds while stopped) and drove it like that and noticed significant improvement. The hesitation is only slightly there, like a fraction of a second instead of one to two seconds. Obviously you're likely to spin the wheels now that it's off, but at least the truck responds better. I'm sure a tune would make it even better.

I’ve always suspected there was a correlation between the lag and traction control. Can’t prove it. Always with the safety stuff while taking control away from the driver. Great in some situations but not so much in others. I intervene sometimes with S-mode, ECT and pedal manipulation. It’s like fighting the computer and wrestling control back.

Honestly after adding blackhawk 2.1 tune I feel much better about the shift points. The delay before it downshift is gone... it just does it now. I have full power and feel like I own a 2023 tacoma v6. Before I was pretty disappointed in the truck.

Stock with a camper shell for now.
How can I tell if my truck has this update or not and if not how to install it?

If the dealer does it, they are supposed to add a sticker under the hood that says something like this vehicle has been modified, new ECU program, for emissions reasons. But mine didn't add that.

I believe there's a way to do it yourself with a Tech stream cable. I had it done at the dealer and they charged me $200 (which is probably too much).

Interesting, we have emissions here in AZ as well but not sure if it changes how the emissions goes during testing.
