Ah, I see. I'm assuming that just means Matt was able to grab the data for 81 earlier?

Yes. Folks could dump the data out of the ECU once it was identified.

Just updated mine from 04b31 with ov tune 2.0 to 04b33 and I must say it is dam good. If I would have known there was going to be an update like this, I would have probably never purchased ovtune.

I updated from 04b30 on Sunday to 04b33 I have only put about 60 miles on so far but I am impressed, the gas pedal seems to respond now, shifting seems close to normal making the truck nice to drive. I put OV 2.0 prem on in Sept it was just a little better than stock, this TSB is much better than the current state of 2.0. I hope that OV tune does something to make 04b33 even better or I wasted $800. Hope there is a way to get 04b33 without buying another tune pack.

For those that posted your results after loading this tsb - thank you very much, also a shout out for all the great posts that illustrate how to load tech stream and the TSB

You can do so much with VF you won't go back to stock, trust me. My truck came with the equivalent (04B81) and VF has greatly improved that. Just gotta get the right tune set up just the way you like it.

Somewhat unrelated question - has anyone noticed their Sirius XM subscription has been renewed? I checked my bank accounts and haven't seen a charge anywhere from Sirius and I know I sure as hell didn't pay for a new contract w/ those jackasses. I'm wondering if the reflash gave me a new trial subscription...

I set my appointment up for 12/12/20 to get my fuel pump recall done and get this ECU update. looking forward to it. The guy I talked to in service said they would need to replicate the "issues" I described per the TSB. I let them know if they don't flash it, I'll find a new dealer for the recall and the remainder of my Toyota care. Don't really have any interest in a tech driving my truck around trying to replicate. I don't have any major concerns with drivability now, but I'd prefer if in operated closer to how it does with ect on...

I had this done at the same time as the fuel pump recall and it has drastically changed the feel of the truck. Even the shifting 'feels' much smoother and power delivery is predictable and significantly better than before. I'll keep an eye on my MPG's.

For those that really hate Sirius / XM and the fact that we don't have enough control of the H/U icons, you can disconnect the two satellite radio connectors on the back side. The icon goes away, which makes flipping through the apps with the Mode button a touch quicker. There's a thread with pics around here somewhere.

Got my truck flashed today when they did my fuel pump...driving home I was quite impressed. Drivability was much improved, especially when accelerating while already moving. 0-60 felt the same (which I'm not surprised given WOT shift points should still be the same) but so far I'm very happy with the improvement.

My VIN is included in this TSB so I am also planning to have it done when my fuel pump is replaced. It will be really interesting to see the deference it makes. I added the Pedal Commander to my truck shortly after I bought it because it never seemed to accelerate as it should. The pedal commander does 'seem' to help but I'm guessing the real fix is in this TSB. I will definitely report back the results when I have this done.

I find it very unlikely you'll be unsatisfied, but if you still want more look into VFTuner.

Another 04b33 updated yesterday....other posts are spot on! Big difference in drivability-smooth,less gear hunt-seems to hold gears longer-milder feeling version of ect.

    I’m lifted 2” with 41# p-rated 31.7”. No added weight/armor.
Traveling this weekend (250 miles) to @Texoma for a re-gear (4:88’s) so hoping this combo works good together.

Will update after I get more miles on 04b33.

Also, got the flash done yesterday. Dealership says they like to be proactive. First time I’ve heard that...LOL. I was thrilled.

Verdict is still out on the new tune. Didn’t have much seat time to try out all scenarios that have drove me nuts in the past. 1st through 3rd did seem better, but I don’t know how much of that was real or me really wanting a noticeable improvement. I’ll post an update after I get more seat time.

Just tried to get this done at a dealer in the Seattle area and the dealer refused because they could not "replicate" the issue.

So what my truck does is shift into 4th gear at 25 and 5th at 35 constantly, which causes the engine to lug and acceleration to stop untill I give it enough throttle to make it downshift again. It will also shift between 4-6 while using cruise control at 60-70mph and at times hold 4th gear 3k rpm's for a minute plus.

Anyone know a dealer around Seattle that will do this?

Your dealer was just lazy and didn't want to boot up their computer or connect a cable. Try a different dealer.
