Brought my '07 SR5 to the dealer last week with TSB in hand and told them about my harsh ride while towing and with a load (400-700#). I went to work and got a call from them later in the day.The service techs said they can't find anything wrong. They said they put 500# in the bed and took it for a test drive and didn't notice any harsh ride. BS, they drove it 5 miles on the highway. They didn't tow a trailer 300 miles with a load in the bed. I mentioned this to them and had to talk and then argue with them about my harch ride. They said they have to verify this to Toyota before they can do this. Well, after getting pissed and threatening to call Toyota customer care they finally folded and said they would do it. Needlest to say the parts are on back order. This isn't the fisrt problem i've had with them and I'm not the only one. My dealer sucks!!!!

I find it hard to believe that they actually put a load in your bed. Too many liabilities of them scratching your bed. I bet your getting the same bs runaround i got . I'm still waiting for the response from my call to toyota direct.I'm supposed to get a call by tommorrow. I still have 2 years left to be able to get this done . I plan on pursuing this issue for 2 years if i have to.There is no way that everyone else gets this done but me.

Man, why are you messing with these jerks? Call the Toyota # and complain and/or go to another dealer. Like ND stated, they don't have the luxury of doing this. Toyota issues the TSB not the dealers...it is not an option...it is per an owner complaint.

All I did was call the dealer, as soon as he balked a little I got louder and told him to look up the TSB. he said he needed to contact Toyota and called back in 3 hours to tell me they approved it and they will order the parts...done.

Go to someone else and then complain about those original jerkoffs directly to Toyota. Fact is that it's stupid for them to assume they will drive the truck like you. Did they take those 500 lbs to the lake? to the mountains on curves or tow a trailer of about 3000lbs? Did they load it to the LIMIT of what the rated capacity is? No...so tell them to F**K off and get nasty.

You know Viper as much as we pay for these trucks the Dealer should stop BS'ing and just do the DAM! TSB. My dealer was a real GEM on this. The one's who catch grief should shop another dealer next time, maybe even switch dealer for servicing. JMHO!:)

That's not good CoopersTacoma. Let me get on my soap box
I believe they don't have a say in it if your vin number falls within the TSB, and I'm sure it does. If you, the customer complains and knows of the TSB and if you have a 3-spring pack, etc., it should be a done deal. This is just a dealership that doesn't want to do the work or has a problem doing the right thing even when it's in black and white. If you had to argue and threaten going to Toyota National before getting cooperation that tells me it's stupid dealer thing. Otherwise, they would not cave in if they thought they were right. They tried to bluff you into believing nothing is wrong. I wouldn't buy another thing from them after you get the work done and find a dealer that is customer oriented.
I will try for the Tail Gate TSB when I get my truck in there for the Suspension fix. I think we are within our rights to get every acknowleged correction by Toyota done at our request. The dealer shouldn't try to snow us over in fixing our expensive investments. They should take the lead and let us know our vehicles have a TSBs to consider. At least your on your way to getting it done right! Later

    TDolley57,

There is a "bent tailgate TSB out" TSB#BO004-7. It is known that the 06-07 Tacoma's have week tailgates. If you ramp load or put to much weight on the center of the tailgate it will bend in the middle. The TSB I mentioned above was the first release that is a kit the dealer installs on your exsisting tailgate to stiffen it up properly.
I have sinse learned that it has been revised. I don't have the revision number, but it supposedly cancells the kit method of fixing the weak tailgate and calls for a whole new tailgate that gets painted to match your truck, etc. I don't know why they went to that method. Maybe they decided a new truck should have a tailgate that was built right from the start and not be retrofitted with stuff to make it right, as an after thought fix. Anyway, that's what I know, but I haven't discussed it with the dealership yet. I'm taking it a step at a time with the most importan first in case I overwhelm them with TSBs. ;)
If you want a copy of the original TSB for the tailgate, send me an e-mail at jberridge@hughes.net. I'll send you a PDF of the original document.

From what i understand the only way they fix your tailgate is if it's actually bent. This has been discussed in the past andthe only people that had any luck already had a bent tailgate

I spent one evening reading the tailgate TSB on toyotanation. I think some people got the fix done even without an already bent tailgate. But it was hard. You had to use logic with the service people. Explain that the TSB is supposed to be a preventative measure. If my tailgate is bent under warranty, then I want a new one, not my old bent one stiffened up.

I think your correct. I have heard the same thing ndcouch. Doesn't make too much since though does it. Who wants to wait around or intentionally bend their tailgate so that Toyota will do the right thing and make the tailgate as it should be? Go figure. I will discuss it with the service manager and see what happens.

Let us know the outcome of that conversation. My Taco goes in for the suspension TSB on or after 11/13/07 and would like to get the tailgate done too if possible.

the parts for my TSB are supposed to be in next week. i'm also going to ask about the tailgate tsb, i do quite a bit of ramp loading and sitting on the tailgate and i'd be PISSED if it bent

Yeah, but the actual wording on the TSB required you to use some brain cells to make that clear. Just in this thread I heard about the replacement TSB that is for a brand new tailgate. I need to get my hands on that one.
