Well, 3 or so months after doing the latest TSB on my 2014 V6 4x4, the squeaking is back. It's more like croaking especially when you let the clutch out at a controlled speed (vs dumping the pedal). Worth bringing back into the dealer?

    Absolutely.

That's by their doing, not yours. Follow-up and get it fixed

I just want to know if it's worth the trouble since I assume there have not been further updated parts since 3-4 months ago. If they replace the parts again, I'll have to be at the dealer for a few more hours, and it'll just show up again in 3-4 months?

That's your decision... I wouldn't lay down and don't acknowledge their lack of fixing the issue.

Keep getting it looked at/fixed, that's the proper thing to do.

Every time I see issues like these, it leads me to believe that there's nothing I can do. I'm the one who loses out by bringing it in (all of the days I spend at the dealer waiting for the service). Better probably just to sell and buy something else.

Yah I don't think it's the white plastic bit, it's when I let out the clutch, specifically, at a controlled rate, and not dumping it by letting it out as fast as I can.

On my truck, I get two noises. I get a soft squishy squeak like sneakers on basketball court, which can be heard from inside and outside the truck. I am assuming that noise is coming from the CMC. The 2nd noise I get is quite loud and it comes from the interior. If I press the clutch pedal down hard and fast, I wont hear it as much. But if I let it out real slow, it creaks and groans and I can really feel the binding in the pedal. I tried pressing pressing the clutch with my hands and sure enough, the slightest push generated that creaking noise. If your noise sounds like the 2nd one, for me, it was resolved with spraying grease where the pedal meets the plunger/shaft and rotating it once in awhile.

As for the other noise, until it starts to get really loud or affects the clutch action, I am not going to worry about it.

It definitely sounds like it's coming from the cylinder. The sound has persisted. I feel like whatever repairs the dealer does, the sound will just come back.

Finally had some time to take a look last night. It's not the cylinder. It's the same darn part I thought it was before the TSB. Even the latest TSB, Toyota didn't fix the problem.

The issue is this plastic piece that wraps around a metal rod. It's a white piece that goes around the road close to the giant spring above the clutch pedal and part of the assembly. You can see it greased but the reality is, no amount of grease stops the plastic from biting the metal rod when the clutch pedal is released and the mechanism rotates. Grease makes a huge difference even though it doesn't go away completely. And what's worse is that the last time I greased this part it only lasted a few months before it came back.

I've seen a bunch of vids online with people having this noise. It's not so much a squeak as it is creaks. It depends how slow you let out the clutch. The slower you do, and the more you stop along the way, the more the plastic bites to the metal rod.

Can't believe for a truck with a generation that had a 10 year run there's still this problem.

Just for the heck of it, I went down to the dealer to see how much it would cost to perform the TSB, and he quoted me with parts and labor arouund $800... I have over 55k mi, and they won't honor it with the powertrain warranty. Yeah, I think I will just live with the noise for now.

I showed my service advisor the TSB, and he inputed in his lil computer all the updated parts that had to be installed, plus an estimate of 2 hours of shop labor and it came out to over $800...

I know this is a dealership service department we are talking about so I can expect higher prices, but really?

Would you happen to drive in the dirt a lot or work in an environment that may introduce a lot of dirt/dust into the cabin? I work in construction so my interior is always filled with sand/dirt/dust. I wonder if this contributes to the problem...

Nothing. I work a desk job and I drive to/from that every day. Nothing super dirty, I can clean my mats once every six months..

Mine started making noise again last night, and can be felt in pedal too. Just had the TSB done a few months ago... I could club a baby seal over the agitation of this. Ruins the driving experience every time you use the clutch. You can feel the groaning in your foot.

I put thick white lithium grease in the pivot point for the cmc-rod and pedal, last night. Seemed to help this morning, but not totally

This is what has worked for me thus far...

I've been greasing and rotating that rod and so far it works for me, at least for the noise that's in the cabin. For the noise that's coming from outside of the truck, I crawled underneath, located the clutch slave cylinder, removed the dust boot where the slave cylinder rod meets the clutch release fork, sprayed lithium grease inside the boot, massaged it and voila, outside noise is gone. I read about this solution on another clutch creak thread, but I forget which one it came from.

    I hope this helps.
