hey, taking my truck to dealer next week for the reg cab grinding / dry bearing noise that comes from the slip yoke on the single piece driveshaft. 60k powertrain warranty will be up soon so i figure i'll see if i can get the ds replaced and see how it goes before spending 400 on something aftermarket. so the question is; is there a tsb for this? i can't find one listed here or ttora. since ppl are gonna ask 2009 reg cab full OME lift. i also had it flipped for a while, the noise came back so i flipped it back. thanks!

i wondered if the tech might suggest that, the interesting thing is when i brought up the ds a long time ago when i was having other issues the service manager said they tell ppl not to grease the ds, he's still there so tmrw will tell some kind of story. all in all the dealer has been good.

As far as i know there is no TSB for this problem. At one point about 20,000 miles ago i took apart my DS and greased the slip yoke using teflon grease, but it didnt help. The problem is the extra space around the spindle, which must be slightly tapered because theres no grind at all when i have the back end loaded down. Wondering if a driveshaft spacer would help?

dealer is taking care of this nicely for me. greased it to reduce the noise for now but as expected there was play in the slip yoke, a new shaft has been ordered to replace under 60k powertrain. anyway soon as the new shaft is installed im gonna flip it if they won't install 'backwards'. maybe hit a ds shop locally to see about a slight extension.

ds replaced, nice and quiet (for now) and smooth. the front u-joint was going bad also and must have been contributing to some of the minor vibes i had. can't complain about this!
