Maybe you should consider switching to a ford, at least there your complaints would be understandable, I think if i had your "issues" i would have switched a long time ago. But thats just my opinion.

    Oh balls

All vehicles have problems including the Tacomas which exhibit most of the " issues " listed by raswank

Yes, some people just like to whine about their problems more than others.

I did switch to a brand new 2008 Honda Accord EXL V-6. Also assembled in the Good Ole US of A. Another piece of shit. Got rid of it with 20,000 miles. All types of squeaky parts inside, front end shake, tpms on all the time, check engine light. And yes get a Ford, your right they do have issues because it is another assembled in America vehicle. I wonder how many people complain about the fully assembled in Japan 4 Runner. I would like to here about it.

I think when you put down $30 grand on a truck you buy the right to voice your opinion on things you are not satisfied with .

This is how TSB's get created , no ? To rectify known issues .

And I am not whining, I changed out every suspension part practically to make it to make it more of a 4x4 that it should be, and road worthy.

All i am hearing are compliants. but yes, for $30k i can understand wanting things right, but you are also buying a toyota and not a Lexus, and a TRUCK for gods sake, why dont people understand that? I had a lady that complained sooo much about her Japan made RAV-4 rattling only to find out it only rattled do 40 mph on a brick road. She acted as if it were a lexus. So, yes all vehicles have problems, but it doesnt matter where they are made, only matters how crazy the owner is and what kind of crazyness they expect from their vehicles.

So it's not a Lexus? That coming out of your mouth says so much. I will leave it at that.

True that different people have different expectation levels .

I wouldn't assume that anyone " complaining " that their truck bottoms out under load , or that the blower motor sounds like a hamster wheel is crazy for doing so , or that they need to get rid of their Tacoma and buy a Ford .

    Your opinion may differ .

Is it really so hard to understand? You expect certain things when you buy a Lexus, Cadi, Infiniti, ect..., that no one in their right mind should expect from the Toyota, Chevy, nissan, ect.... But yet some people believe that just b/c they shell out more than $20k for a vehicle it needs to be different. This thread started b/c of a real leaf spring squeek. Feel free to go to any other brand and see just how quickly they tell you to pound dirt if you went to them with a "noise" complaint. people dont understand how good they have it when dealing with Toyota. I rest my case, if you dont understand what i'm saying by now, you never will.

People used to just say the word TOYOTA, and it meant outright quality. People do not think that anymore

These are probably the same people that said "My gas pedal stuck!!!" What a crock of poop that turned out to be, thanks NASA for proving toyota was in the right!

So do you think BMW doesn't make sure they give the same quality to the 1 series. That they do all the other models? I think not, and that is a car under 30,000. So because we don't have a lexus, infiniti, or peice of crap caddy. We don't have a right to be upset? If Toyota quality was what they cared about, don't you think since 20005 they would have just fixed the squeaky leaf spring? Or put the 4 leaf pack in? Or fixed the blower motor problem? Or the leaky windshields? If they have a TSB for it, what not just do it to the production vehicle coming out of the factory? Nooooooooo they would rather have their customers bitch and complain.

I had a '99 with a bad frame, but it was a damn good truck. So I let Toyota buy it back and bought a 2005 D-cab. Yes the springs squeak, and the overhead compass/temp didn't work and the paint chips and there is a clunk in the driveshaft sometimes. But you know what.....I would not own a ford or chevy or nissan or any anything else. Its a machine, every machine will have problems of some kind, some minor and just annoying, some major. Is the human body perfect? ...So how can we expect something we, as flawed humans, build to be prefect in every aspect? If I was so bothered by these minor things as some seem to be, I would not own a Toyota anymore. If it's that bad, ride a bike. This is TacomaWorld, for Tacoma enthusiasts, not Tacoma haters. I Love My F-ing Truck!

Oh, as for the squeaky leaf springs; chain lube on a regular basis, a new leaf pack or just turn the radio up. Sorry about the rant in my previous post. mmmmmkay

I love mine too, but they pay the engineers millions for research. Get it right before you release it. 7 years with the same old problems. That in my mind is pathetic.

Preach it! I know plenty of people who have had Toyota trucks for years! Yeah they may squeak, but that's what the radio is for! My truck has squeaks, and yes they annoy me. So put a 12" jl in the back and whattya know... No squeaks! I dont want to cause any more conflict, just thought I'd throw that out there!

I couldnt have said it better myself! Some people just can't seem to get past the little stuff and get back to enjoying their trucks like we all should!!!

    1. The 4-leaf pack became standardized on 2012 trucks, did it not? I wouldn't be surprised if the bigger silencer pads are there, too. The difference between Toyota and Ford is that Toyota eventually fixes these issues after 5-6 years while Ford doesn't...

    2. It just so happens the $35K made-in-Japan 4Runner doesn't use leaf springs.
