Found the TSB for the radar sensor but couldn't find exactly what Toyota does to "fix" it. Do they just apply some silicone around the sensor to make it more waterproof? If I have them do it will I still be able to remove the sensor and install it on my TRD Pro grill coming today?

They put some sort of foam tape over it. Do it before you put the grill on, otherwise, they will shut off certain features as they as apparently calibrated for the type of grill your truck came with. I recently went in for service and the advisor told me that since I changed the grill, they would shut off some stuff. I declined to have the recall done at this time as I have no issues. I will probably put the original grill back on, then have it done.

Gotcha, they don't seal it in there do they? Sounds like I can still pop it off and onto the pro grill?

I also wondered about the pro grill install after the TSB. I have the foam tape on my 19 sensor that was installed prior to delivery. I have the OEM pro grill I want to install but wondered if others are taking the tape off to remove from old grill/install on the new grill and then reinstalling the tape?

They place some foam tape on it depending on the actual unit. The TSB shows which sensors need it and which don't. They also apply a software update for the system.

I installed an aftermarket Pro Grill after I had the TSB done. The radar sensor was easilly removed and transferred over to the new grill (With the foam waterproofing left in place on the radar sensor). However after the new grill was installed, I have had a couple of minor issues with the radar now....it has disengaged intermittently (message says 'PCS not available!'). It will come back on some time later after the truck cycles through a few startups. This has only happened a few times since I put the new grill in place. It is very intermittent and has not happened now for almost a month. I'm hoping that the PCS has just gotten used to the new grill by now!

Thanks for the help everyone! Looks like even with the TSB done the sensor still fits the pro grill.

I also just got the grill in the mail now...you can tell it's an eBay grill from the back. Terrible plastic mold, lots of little left over tabs from melted plastic and what not....thought about returning it but I took a razor and trimmed it up. Looks good from the front and shit in the back but I guess it was cheap so I can't really complain since no one is really looking at the back of the grill

Put pro grille on. With OEM GARNISH. No problems at all. Dealer would not do recall. Everything works just fine

I didn't pull off the grill and must be missing something, but the foam waterproofing covering appears to cover the top screw attachment at least (from the top it looks to cover the side as well). How do you unscrew the sensor and leave the foam intact? I assumed I would have to take it off and then reinstall it. I am probably missing something obvious here.

I'm 90% that that foam bandaid isn't necessary on a Pro grill.

I had the recall done, then switched grills. Some of the foam stayed with the OEM grill, cuz that foam is on that screw for purposes only the TRD Pro Marketing Team can answer.

No problems yet, but I'm running w/o the garnish plate. I ordered the cheapest knockoff garnish I could find and, once it arrives, I'll adapt it to the cheap-o mm wave RADAR sensor. I'm hoping that's just mill/polish. I'm set up to test it though, and I'll post results, including thrown codes, in a new thread if anything of value arises from this experiment.

I'm still unsure how the foam fix helps with water? I'm thinking of something along the lines of packing foam, which can be porous, is being used to seal out water? Or is it more of a gasket material? Also, isn't the actual unit self contained in a plastic box? How is water getting into this at all?

It's self-adhesive closed cell foam tape. It diverts water that might try to flood the sensor from the rear/top. The Pro sensor has a little roof structure there, but is subject to recall as well. It gets tape on the front. Read the TSB. It explains what gets done, but not why.

Production date 11/18 on a 2019 OR DCSB. They did not tell me which VIN's are affected, just some of the 18 and 19's with TSS.
