Was there something... anything... that made you think you would WANT TO swap?

I mean... there are places it's cold in the winter I wouldn't mind living... but upstate NY ain't drawing me in.

Then I stand (actually I'm sitting but...) corrected. I thought all the recalls got the 3+1's.

Dakars your talking OME right? That’s what I’m contemplating. I found a full suspension upgrade for 1,291.00 on Bilsteinlifts.com with free shipping (https://www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/...t-kits/2-arb-ome-lift-kit-2016-toyota-tacoma/) not a bad price for a full suspension upgrade. Specially when you starting looking at prices & pieces. Just wondering how long these stock springs will last, got some pretty mean noises over bumps at the moment. Don’t want to break a spring and pop a tire or something.

It's possible that's the case now... I don't know when mine got done. Perhaps they've decided to streamline supply, and only stock the 3+1 TSB packs.

Bummer is, if they've already done the recall, you're most likely not going to get them done free under the TSB at 8 years old... I don't think that TSB came with any warranty extension, like the one for the turn signal/DRL lens burning did.

I bought my takeoff 3+1s for $50 and put the longer 2 leaves of a 3-leaf AAL on plus left the overload- I left out the shortest leaf as it would've kept the overload from making contact until it was seriously negatively arched. It was just pragmatic for me, full new packs were going to be $800ish shipped, this was under $300. I would've nutted up if it were like $150-200 more, but I just couldn't see another $500 right now. They're not perfect, maybe 1/2-1" short to match my 884s on the front, but they do ride pretty damn good. I'll be happy if I get another 2-3 years out of them.

    Interesting.

I'm slowly acquiring stock springs to make my own heavy duty "franken-leafs". I got one stock set for free from a member yesterday and I'd like to get one more free or cheap set. My goal is to basically merge two sets together and make a 4 or 5 + overload spring set using all stock leaves.

I plan to use the top attachment spring, then for the other sub springs trim the lengths of the donor slightly on each side to fit in between the normal stock leaves (hopefully that makes sense). I'll have to make my own spring clamps I guess, order longer u bolts and such, but I think this should work. If all goes well it should be only minimal lift (the with of the additional springs) and the same arch profile, but a stiffer spring rate and hopefully less sag and more capacity before bottoming.

I'm worried though that the fundamental metallurgy of the springs is crummy and that by stacking stock springs they'll still sag out and generally ride like crap, but time will tell. It's an experiment.

I just did the recall and It didnt lift it much more(they put my aal back in). It does ride better and they are looking black and shinny down there amidst all the rusty other parts =-) I'm trying to figure all this out too. Get a new aal? I want more anti sag when I have my shell on or lumber weighing it down.

There are two different part numbers for the recall springs.

If you’ll look at the actual recall guidance from Toyota you will see that the part numbers are different for trucks that had the harsh ride spring tsb performed previously. The “Canada/Mexico” springs are the ones you want if you are looking for a little stiffer factory ride. I can’t recall the part number, though a quick search should put you in the right thread.
