I've been debating getting a 8/100k platinum extended warranty (with the hope that I'll never need to use it). The brochure from Toyota is pretty comprehensive, but doesn't mention whether TSB coverage is extended.

Has anyone outside of the basic 3/36k had TSB work covered under their platinum extended warranty? USA opinions only please (apologies to my fellow canucks).

99% sure the TSBs are 3/36 only. says so right on them usually. unless, its a powertrain tsb then it specifies 5/60. only way itd be covered is if you had a TSB previously done and they came out with a new TSB for the same problem or you complained about something that was later covered by a tsb.

Depends on the dealer honestly. I had the blower squeak after my 3/36k warranty was up and the platinum warranty covered it.

But my buddy had his leaf spring TSB denied under his platinum warranty. The "rule" they follow is that unlike the 3/36k they only repair broken or failed parts. Not parts that are going to fail, known to fail, or are just making noise (if that makes any sense)

I got the tsb done for the chirping blower after my 3/36 ran out. I think I have the 7/75 platinum warranty. I took the truck in and they changed it, no charge to me, with no questions asked. Of course it's only a $100 blower motor and very little labor, so YMMV

Already had the blower chirp tsb done by the dealer, only other tsb i plan on getting is the rear leaf. Would be awesome if there was a way to extend the 3/36k to include the tsb's.

A TSB is not a recall.
A TSB is simply a bulletin informing the dealer service department that if a customer complains about "A" then the most likely solution is "B".
It does not automatically apply to every vehicle, and it may apply to vehicles outside of the year/models defined in the TSB.

The TSB may be denied under 3/36 or extended warranty if the dealer feels that the problem addressed by the TSB does not actually exist.
Likewise, if the problem DOES exist, the TSB should be covered just as any in-warranty repair is covered, 3/36 or extended, unless the impacted systems are not covered by the extended warranty.
