TSB - spare tire lift plate question...

    For those that have had this done. did they replace/reuse the cylinder lock or use the standard replace?

    the dealer I got mine done at said my style was not used anymore because it cannot be replaced. Trying to figure out if they were just stupid or does Toyota not put a keyed lock cylinder on the spare anymore..

    any input?

    I have had mine done and I don't have a keyed lock cylinder on my 02.

    ugh, kinda makes it easy to steal (although I could be blowing smoke) and now have an extra part in my kit. Might have to see if they would replace it for free, can always hope :)

    Hi, I have a '13 per runner and there is no spare tire lock and FYI no tpms on my full size spare. I put a padlock thru the lift chain to one of the lug nut holes - not high security but hopefully enough to make the lazy thief move over a space or two to the next truck or better yet, to the dealer down the road so maybe Toyota will put a lock on them! --- my 2k silverado had a keyed lock from the factory ---- why can't we?
