TSB Spring pack sagging after 4 years

I've noticed over a period of time my 4 leaf pack TSB springs have gotten to the point of sagging so the truck sets nearly level. I carry zero weight in the bed normally, but do tow about 3200-4000 lbs (16' trailer + SXS + ATV) about 1-2 times per month. Has anyone else noticed the TSB spring leveling out over a period of time? I had the TSB performed about 4 years ago.

What is everyone doing as a fix? I don't really want a "lift", but at some point I might have to look at options.

 

Holy crap! Yours lasted 4 years????? I had the TSB done about a year and a half ago and I just had to replace them with All-Pro leafs because the TSB leafs were completely flat! I could jump on the back bumper and bounce the bed off the bump stops. The warranty offices refused to honor a second leaf pack lol...

and I quote..."Toyota is aware of the defective leaf packs in the Tacoma" that was the reason they refused to warranty a second pack. My dealer just shook his head, he was about to throw another pack on for me...but called the warranty office up on the spot just in case...

 

Mine were flat after a year. I installed Dakars and will never look back

 

What kind of price am I looking at with these other spring packs? I'd do the install myself.

I'm surprised yours lasted 4 years! I got about a year on mine before they were flat again. You could always go with air bags, they are a good option for people who tow and haul but want to remain at stock height.

 

I did, but thought there might be preferred vendors on TW offering discounts and such.

 

Wheelers is one of those preferred TW vendors. I'm not sure if they offer a TW discount but they are great people to do business with.

 

For about $300 plus some time to install, I would suggest the Firestone Ride Rite air bags. Sounds like it will fix your spring issue.

How do you figure? It takes the leaf springs out of the equation, the air bags essentially become the load bearing element of the truck's suspension.

 

But you're still stuck with shitty leafs. If an airbag goes out while he's towing...he's gonna be kinda screwed. would rather have both, if I towed often. that way if either one fails, you've got a backup. That's essentially the same as putting an AAL into a flat leaf pack to give lift. You're not fixing the issue, you're trying to work around it..which in this case...will only hurt in the long term.

 

Yea, I'm not really interested in the hassle of airbags. The truck still tows as good as it ever has, I'm just wondering if I'll have to replace the packs eventually since I only have 59k miles and hope to keep it a lot longer.

 

Thing is OP, if your leafs are flat/dead...you're towing off your bumpstops, which is never good.
