Oh man. I just called dealership, service writer says "Well you gotta bring it in"....I went on to explain sternly that I had spoken to Toyota, the TSB is applicable, the TSB states nothing about an inspection, I just wanted it installed. He says I can't but the service manager can. So I leave a message, service manager calls me back, I rip for a couple of minutes because this is second time turning me down for TSB (tranny and this one.) I tell him the story, he says I'll order myself in next couple of hours, will call if there is a problem. Goes on to say, they will look at the tranny good this time, fluid level, shifting, and if it needs TSB or not, they will try and straighten it out. Stay tuned...

    The TSB is complete:)
went from 3 leaf to 4 leaf spring package
the gap between the top of the rear axle bumper and the bumper stop mounted on the frame, grew an inch to 4.25 inches.
They also gave me results of alignment
the toe was out from factory and corrected
I don't know if they raised the front end, though I think they should have, due to change in weight bias by raising rear height

The truck rides a lot more firm in the rear (I like it, but wife is not so pleased)

    also
my neighbor just got his 2008 done at my dealer because his dealer refused him.

    My Dealer:
    Conicelli Toyota in Conshohocken, PA

    Thanks Conicelli

Took my 09 DC Sport in last Friday to Lakewood Toyota NJ for the Transmission TSB, while talking to the Service Writer, I explained the issue with the "harsh" ride while under load. He said to me "do you really have the issue or you just reading message boards" I laughed and said both. :p Further explained, I will be doing alot of yard work shortly and didnt want to have any issues hauling material. He obliged and said he will need to take measurements. 1/2 hr later the Tranny was flashed and said the parts are ordered for the Rear Spring TSB.

Just waiting for the call to drop the truck off to get the work done....:D

Question about T-SB-0305-08 leaf spring part number.

    Is this correct
Previous Part Number = Old Spring Assy
Current Part Number = New Spring Assy

Took my '09 Pre-Runner Access Cab TRD to Huntington Beach Toyota for its 10,000 mile service yesterday at 8AM. I mentioned that I was experiencing a harsh ride and that I felt that the rear springs were weak. My Service Rep said that he hadn't heard any complaints, but they would check it out. I left a copy of the TSB on the front seat.
My truck was ready at noon, and when I picked it up, they had performed the warranty spring replacement. No dealer hassle, no buying 900 pounds of concrete and having to return it, and no ordering parts only to return later for installation. I like the new stiffer ride and the added height does not bother me. I haven't experienced bottoming out of the truck. I've probably only hauled a max of 300 lbs in it since I bought it, but a some point I'm sure that I'll load it up and I want it to be able to handle it.
Before I had a chance to inspect my truck, I got a call from the Service Rep. He informed me that the Service Tech had neglected to return my wheel lock key. He apologized at least three times and I drove back to the dealer. When I arrived the service rep apologized again and handed me my key and a $10 gift card to Starbucks. Well worth the drive back to the dealer!

Hey all you guys that have had the rear spring TSB done, have you noticed any new or increased driveline vibration or shudder at certain speeds? I've been browsing the forum and I've seen differing reports. One person said the 4 leaf TSB springs created a vibration and someone else said they actually made the stock launch shudder better.

I have a bone stock 2010 DC 4x4 shortbed TRD off-road and it shudders a bit between 15-25mph under a heavy throttle launch. Pretty common problem from what I've been reading on these forums. I'm curious if the TSB springs will make this condition better or worse?

    Thanks

Can the dealer refuse to do the TSB? I am under warranty and the toyota 1800 number person said I was eligible. I went to the service department today, TSB in hand, and they said I need to make an appointment to have it looked at. Just dont feel like dealing with BS!!!

does this have to be done before the warranty expires or before 36,000 miles? I'm at 36K but my warranty goes to 50K.

I started nice but got pretty stern towards the end, basically just saying what I needed to be done and not asking. The local dealership finished mine today. I had to pull the "i called 1800Toyota and......." number, by that time the service manager was telling me the parts were ordered!!! Without evening bringing it in for "inspection". He did give me shit about my alignment numbers and grumbled at the 5100s. In the end who gives a damn, $1200 set of springs, better riding IMHO, it's a friggin truck!!!!!! I'm putting some LR UCAs on soon and will have a real shop align it up right.

Thanks, I have my 5100s in the tool box and tires and wheels on order. I kind of figured it would be a good idea to wait till after the TSB is done.

I called the dealer asked if I could get the rear leafs done, he asked why, I told him, he said they would order the parts, which they did, I had them installed the other day, ABSOLUTELY NO HASSLE AT ALL, NO TEST, NO NOTHING, it took about 4 hrs of my time. and well worth it, anyone thinking they will get a rough ride should think again, it is a great improvement. it raised the truck about 1 3/4 inches, They installed the 4leaf system and 4 shocks, I am a happy camper, Doc

Sorry for the ignorance, but is this only for the 4x4? And is there a difference between the yellow bilstein shocks in that picture and the 5100's? Thank you for the knowledge.

No. It's for any '09 '10 models. Which are under warranty. Though very few have gotten it done out of warranty. As far as the shocks being the same I don't know.

I got a trd or. and my shocks are blue. I like the way it rides now, haven't got a chance to load it up seeing how I just got it. But, I still have plenty of time if I decide to add a leaf from toyota later on.

Read the TSB. It has all your answers.

Bilstein 5100 series shocks are different than the Bilstein/TRD OEM shocks.

ARE MX cap with Yakima rack and slider windoors
I'm having the TSB done on my 2009 reg cab 2.7 4X2 next Wednesday. I took it in after experiencing quite a bit of rear sag after having my ARE MX top installed. Once I added a few bags (maybe 10) of potting soil, the ride was "harsh" and I hit the bumper stop (I think just the pass side) twice on the way home even though I distributed the weight out the best I could. I called the 1-800 number and asked why the access cabs get it but, the regular cabs did not...the answer was:

"...because the access cab has a higher payload capacity..."

I asked him to double check the specs, as what I had in front of me (Toyota's website and my manual) stated that the payload capacity of the regular cab is actually 30lbs more than what is listed for the access cab.

He said he would order the parts and set me up to do the swap next Wednesday.

I'm wondering what "parts" he is going to order as they would need to be different than what the tsb states. Has anyone else had this done on their reg cab 2.7 4X2?
