Just picked mine up yesterday from getting the TSB done. Lifted the back only about a half inch. Pushing down on the tailgate it used to move real far and bounce, now is much stiffer like a truck should be. Definitely glad I was able to get this done. Don't notice any difference in the ride, but then I've always driven a truck.

first photo is of what is currently under the truck - 3 leafs
Is it correct that the TSB will change the number to 4?

the 2nd photo is of a yellow sticker on the door post indicating that the capacity has been reduced by 4 pounds
    What is that about?

"Harsh ride" are the key words. They asked me two times if I was getting a harsh ride so i said "yes" . I am waiting for my parts to come in for my 2010 dc sport.

Oshnjoe, the answer to your first question is yes.

Let me assure you from my experience that there is no correlation between the yellow sticker and the TSB which is being discussed in this thread. NONE WHATSOEVER.

The yellow stickers are a topic for another thread
    .

The stickers are part of a safety recall. The recall had to do with conforming to a U.S. Federal Vehicle Standard. Toyota used the wrong stickers because of your type of tires/rims Click here to read/discuss the yellow stickers.

Not for free anyways. If your brother was a Toyota service manager and you had a qualifying year and model serial number to use, maybe he could get the parts for you. But him being fired if caught would be chump change! Not worth it!
Recomend searching TacomaWorld forum for a good pair of high gas pressure shocks to give you a little more clearance. Would be the cheapest way out, That's what I'm going to do, have a 2006 with 32K miles on it. Looking into KYB MONOMAX High Performance Gas Shock, gas pressure is 320psi which will push truck up and reduce roll therefore provide better handling. This is all theory though, will look for reviews of people who have actually installed them for noise and ride quality issues.

Great advice and right on! The TSB was honored and the new springs were installed the same day with no significant questioning of the "status", condition, or behavior when under a load.

I'm looking forward to loading her up, without the front end being up in the air and bottoming out. AND now she looks like she has a lift kit - so glad that I went with the larger BFGs! :D

    Thanks!

Here's what Im going through, I stopped into the dealership to ask about this TSB because I'm installing my lift real soon, so i want to get this done before they wont touch it because of the lift. They told me there is no such TSB, so I came home and looked up the TSB # and called them back with the info. They said that they thought that I was talking about something else. So anyhow I got an appointment for thursday and they said that they will have a tech take it out and test it, like my word is not good enough. I told them that I had already tested it myself and bottomed out with a very light load(100-150lbs). So i guess my question would be they probably wont honor it if i install my lift right? And if they dont anyhow will the Toytec AAL fix the problem?

Well, they called and it's done. Picking up the truck in 2 hours. They wouldn't put the Helper Springs I have back on (SuperSprings). I guess it's a lawsuit/insurance issue? Now I have to get-s me a pair of those 5100's for the front...

Took mine in this morning, 3 hours of waiting and got it back better than new. It now rides like a truck should. I have a '10 SR5 4x4 and they changed all 4 shocks and the leaf springs. Really good people at Estabrook.

Went today to see if they would do it despite being over 57k miles since I have the extended warranty and got nothing. Bummer but what can you do. My mechanic admitted to the ride not being up to par and told me to go find myself some TRD shocks and to run them with my SR5 springs to fix my issues. I think I am doing that for starters followed by add-a-leafs.

Just had the spring mod done to my 09 pre-runner, Took only one day along with the Harsh shifting mod. Truck runs better than new. I'm not sure but I think they even changed out my gas pedal.

I don't know why they would change your gas pedal. The tacoma was not on recall for that. I did tell the service people to not do anything but the suspension on my truck.

Wow they changed out the shocks as well?

    Interesting
The TSB specifically states that the shocks and bumper stops have already been addressed

The springs for my '10 SR5 are supposed to in this week (we'll see)
the issue I had was that in the TSB there are no specs for front end alignment for the VDS (MU4FN) associated w/my trk

Do you know if they did a front end alignment on yours?

Oshnjoe, You're right. The 2009-2010 should not have received new shocks like Deathbound has.

Sometimes the dealer does not follow the TSB correctly--this has happened before. It's too bad for the dealer, because the way I understand it, the factory will not reimburse them for labor/parts that was not necessary.

The TSB spells out the procedure and the dealer failed to follow the instructions properly. It was great for Deathbound though. LOL :D

If your truck is lifted you should read this!

    Crom...
OK here is my detail on the lifted 2007 TRD-DC 4x4 spring issue. This is for the springs and the squeak pad TSB's.

    1. DCH Toyota (Simi Valley Ca.) replaced the 3 leaf spring packs on Saturday with the 4 leaf spring packs and the silencers per the two TSBs with no probems. They were very good about it.
    2. No shocks or bump stops were changed out.
    3. I just picked it up last night and it is definitely raised in the rear......Appears to be about 1.5 inches as it is very noticeable and you can also feel the rear lift when you sit in the truck.
    4. I'm going to change out the rear blocks of the lift kit to shorter blocks or possibly no blocks to try to get the truck sitting straight again.
    5. The ride is definitely stiffer but not by much. Not a problem.

If you get the springs replaced go over some bumps you are framilar with in your everyday driving (speedbumps or whatever) you will be able to tell the difference immediately.
I have not hooked up my trailer yet but I fully expect that the truck will tow much better when the front end does not come up so badly.

Thanks for all the help on this.

    KJW

KJW, congratulations uh i have one question though. I have a buddy coming down of friday to help me install my lift, however i could not get the dealership to look at my truck until thursday. I thought about telling my buddy to not worry about coming down because i dont want the dealership to have to order the leafs and i bring my truck back lifted and have them turn me down because i had already added a rear leaf. oh and they are really not wanting to do this TSB for me and say that they will have to look at it and ''test'' it/i guess the customer isn't always right when i say that the rear sags too much for what little weight i had in the back.did you or anyone else have this problem?

Do you know if they did a front end alignment on yours?

Yes, they did front and rear alignment. I was really shocked but pleased. I didn't say anything to them, they do owe me for all the heartache with my wifes Matrix.

Been to the dealer once a week for the past 2 months minus maybe 2 weeks.
