i am sure when toyota includeds the 09s on the tsb this forum is going to blow up. but why do they wait intill winter. and they obvisly know of the problem thats why they put the sticker in the trucks why not just make it right the first time. they are geting all kind of negative reviews because of this.

You gotta ask...The VIN in the new TSB are the identifiers for the 4x4/PreRunner AC and DC trucks (I think)...so I don't forsee you getting far with that.

The part numbers for the springs are GREAT info/ammo. The part numbers are the same...even tho your truck is an 09....and ask what they can do. If you don't ask they certainly won't do anything...

If they say no- Call corporate to get a case number and add your voice to the 09 owners who are unhappy to get the TSB updated.

I have a yellow sticker................for a one pound reduction in payload! I didn't think that was basis for the tsb.

I'll go corporate if the dealer is a dead end. They should have an opportunity to do the right thing. Then corporate, then BBB, then local news, then NHTSA, then legal. I sent an e-mail link of this thread to the dealer so they can see the numbers and sentiment of the Toyota owners that feel slighted.

The TSBs are not for general consumption- They are techincal documents made for the Toyota Techs. If you loaded the truck up and never read about the TSB- You would take it in and work thru it until they fixed it.

Some people see the TSB on here- Barely know what it stands for and start demanding it be done to their un-delivered truck....NOT THE POINT.

YOu made the right first step....Calling corporate puts another tick on the data line about the suspension and that's what gets the TSB updated.

EXACTLY, I'm a tech apprentice at a toyota dealership over here and it looks very odd if someone comes in asking for something like that with the TSB in their hand. If your like the OP and some other people and can come show me the problem thats different in my eyes though. Some people are just gonna be hard ass's cause they'll think your trying to just get free stuff. BTW tsb's very often do not pay very well for tech's. My advise is to go in complaining about the problem and asking what can be done. If that doesn't work then get the TSB and say you seached the internet to see what you could find and found this. Don't just roll in and be like yeah my trucks supposed to get this so do it. Lol From what I've seen the little time I've been on here most of you guys are handling it pretty good but if you absolutely do not need the TSB going and trying to get it done is only gonna make it harder to get for the people that do need it.

well Toyota should understand that this is the INTERNET age and when i have a problem before i go and complain about it i take 30 min or so and look it up on the INTERNET. thats how i found this forum and the tsb. just because you look like a intelligent person with INTERNET access having a problem doesn't mean i am just looking for something free. this wouldn't be a issue if they would just fix the problem 3 years ago when they knew about it. the dealer gave me the run around before even attempting to duplicate the prob

I've done the math and my guess is- This is not a problem for about 95% of 2nd gen owners. You see it ALL the time around here-cause everyone here talks about it.

But most Taco owners will never load up enough stuff or know the difference between driving it nearly to the bumps or not and won't complain. The ones that do (either because they feel it drive funny or cause they found it on the internet) will take it in and get new springs (in the long run for some) and that will fix it for everyone. Without having to throw out a ton of 3 leaf packs or do any major changes to anything, thus saving them money with a minimum # od customers put out by it.

i understand that but on the trucks with the tow pkg they should assume that they are going to tow with there truck and include the new leaf pack. from what i read all canada trucks get the new leaf pack?

Well see what I said was anyone that can come show the problem or somehow make it more obvious that this actually affects you and your not one of the people that never tow or haul anything and just want the inch or so of lift and stiffer rear end should get the TSB no problem. I'm not saying I agree at all with what the dealer the OP went to though. He actually went and showed them the problem and they won't fix it and thats different. I was just trying to maybe let you guys how have the problem know better ways to approch the dealers with the TSB so that you don't have that problem. The thing is, not every tacoma owner is going to notice this problem and some never haul anything more than some grocerys so I'm guessing thats why its a TSB and not a recall. You have to understand the number of tacomas that will never see this problem vs the ones that will.

edit: Damn brunes you just about worded it exactly like me. Lol

I have the tow package and had about 650# in the bed of the truck (about 1/2 the max cargo) and didn't notice any adverse handling or bottoming out.

I've since gotten the TSB springs and an 3 pack AAL- but it's because I do tow with mine and my dealership is pretty good to me. I asked about the TSB and they jumped on the chance to fix it for me...No calls to corporate or anything.

gotcha make sense i understand what you guys are saying and it is a really good point. i just hate how they treated me. I told the tech the whole reason i got the 30,000 dollar truck was to tow my boat. and he couldn't care less

    1) Print out the TSB

    2) Make sure your vehicle falls within the parameters and Highlight it

    3) Call the Toyota 1-800 number and describe your "harsh ride" and how it bottoms out.

    4) Wait until your dealership calls you to schedule an appointment

5)Go to appointment with everything in hand and walk through it with the head honcho....

    6) If still no worky then politely tell them you will above their heads or you can head the Gullo Toyota in Conroe and get it done like I did

Well if I didn't know about the tsb I would be buying air bags to help tow with. BUT the internet did clue me in to why my truck, that supposedly will tow a 6500 pound trailer, bottoms out with 10 cinder blocks in it. And I did pay 30K plus for a quality truck that will pull a camper and/or my utility trailer. For the same price I could have bought two f#$%$% new Dodge Ram Quad Cabs. So tell me why the hell I have to prove anything. I told them it bottoms and I have to f%#^ prove it? And my service records looks like I'm making this stuff up? I'm calling bullshit.

About the only advise I can give other than what I said in my last post is to try another dealer like some other people where suggesting. I mean if one of you guys came to my dealer and could show me that like your saying you've showed them I'd do it for you in a heart beat. Not every dealer/tech is like that though. The same way I've seen some guys just kinda throw there bolts around when they take something apart and just put it all back together with all kinds of bolts in the wrong places. I'd NEVER do that, I put all my shit in different boxes so it goes back EXACTLY like I took it apart. Some of you guys are just finding the jackass's of the toyota dealer and tech world.

Mention that you don't appreciate them having called you a liar to top all of this off, maybe they will be more inclined to do it.

Also, try another service dept, they seem to vary greatly.
