Glass shop replaced my windshield today but could not calibrate the TSS because of lift and tires (3” + 85 series skinny). The tech said their tool has a license limited to stock vehicle configuration. They recommend the dealer. All TSS features appear to be operating normal. I suppose the dealer is my next stop. What are others in this situation doing? Thanks TW!

As a tech at a dealer I can tell you they don't have specs to calibrate the tss on any Tacoma lift but the trd accessory 2in/1in. The dealer will most likely suggest disabling the system and setting default cruise control to the traditional style cruise instead of radar for legal purposes.

We re-calibrate all lifted trucks, basically we explain it will have limited capabilities and ideally you disable it.

The windshield doesn't have different specs, but it does calibrate even with 3.5" lifts.

Ideally with lifted trucks you run the heritage grill which lowers the radar sensor making it more effective.

Thanks for the quick replies, guys. I’ll check my local dealer’s approach and consider the heritage style grill if necessary.

FYI: some dealers will try to stick a warning sticker on if they disable that radar system.

Mine has a 2.5 lift and 285/70/17 tires. I didn't calibrate after the new windshield and it's totally fine. Just did 3000 miles through OK, NM,AZ , UT, CO, Kansas and MO.

Replacement of the glass came with the package I bought with Crystal Fusion applied from the dealer. Recalibrating the lane departure and other functions did not. I was going to pay out of pocket for that but then my glass shop told me the same thing yours did; no can do b/c I'm sitting on an aftermarket lift. They replaced the glass, didn't touch a thing on the calibration and the damn thing works better now than it ever has.

The local glass guy that services all of my classic cars and I discussed this and he is of the opinion the calibration for the garden variety pit, crack, or rock strike shouldn't be necessary because the camera didn't move. My experience is in line with his view -- I would only worry about recalibrating TSS if you are in a collision.
