I simply adjusted the sensitivity to the minimum setting and it works great.

Lol, i see that TSS has really got you fired up. You should really just save yourself the heartache and trade it in for a 16-17 model. Nonetheless, this thread has been quite comical!

Tech will be better with time, look at the past advances. ABS brakes, audio, seatbelts, hell just the glass in cars. We always improve on advancements.

I saw the 2019 rav4 is getting TSS 2.0. It has improved already. I would love the adaptive cruise to go to zero like it will on that.

I am the guy that was all tech growing up. Now not so much. I want to drive my vehicle. Don't want my vehicle to drive me. If I could have a new 70 Chevelle with roll up windows I would be in heaven. I will never and I mean never own a self driving car, a Hybrid, or an electric car. Once my 19 Tacoma arrives i can honestly say it will probably be the last new vehicle I buy for myself. When the time comes I want something different I will search out an older 60s 70s 80s truck that is rust free and pay all the money to have a real truck. Or car if that's the way I feel at the time.

Depending on how fast your traveling the system will alert the driver to brake (on dash) and will slow the truck down, but doesn't slam on the brakes. I have been doing 70-80 mph before and the system kicks on for some reason and it just slows the vehicle down to give the driver time to actually hit the brakes. It's almost the same feeling that the truck does when your on Adapative CC and it senses something in front of you and automatically slows down (but doesn't scream brake on the dash). It was something I have gotten used to since this is my first vehicle with these features in it.

My big question to my wife last night about this system was, when it alerts you to hit the brakes and slows the vehicle down, do the brake lights also come on without no one pushing the brake pedal?

I used to say the same thing. I have a 2018 because my 2015 was totaled. I was hit head on when a driver lost control on ice. If my truck did not have all the safety equipment I would likely have been seriously injured or killed. I walked away with a few bruises, this changed my mind. I get what you are saying though, I miss my 78 IH Scout.

Toyota is selling vehicles hand over fist since adding "AI". So the market is saying you'll be on the wrong side of that fence. Just look at the sales numbers between the 17 vs the 18.

Just an update on my TSS. It has been acting up in the daylight hours, real sunny. Two days in a row no problem, both days were overcast. It would show system off, clean sensor. I will keep an eye on it, but frustrated.

This is entirely why I bought a 2017, Toyota still isn’t up to par on TSS and they’re forcing it into all their cars. Look at Subaru and most other brands. They’re safety stuff still isn’t in all the models.

Toyota is rushing the safety features without working all the bugs out

Exaggerated or not there will be a few bumps along the way with any technology. Safety sense in its current form will be gone in a flash. In a few years it will be a semi autonomous system (think slightly more sophisticated than Tesla autopilot). A few years after that we will be at nearly to fully autonomous. People will look back and wonder how anyone survived driving manually.
