My issue seems to be a little more rare as I went from the SR5 grille on my 2021 to an OEM 2021 TRD sport grille.

I’m not getting any warning lights or errors but I noticed pretty quickly that the PCS was not activating when I would approach a vehicle or large object like it used to. Then this morning when it was still dark out, it worked. Sensitivity was raised all the way Up. Fast forward to my Mid morning drive when it’s light out & it won’t activate at all. I’m puzzled because unlike the swap to the TRD grille, my sensor location really hasn’t changed. Granted I haven’t put a tape measure on it & it’s possible it’s slight more inward than before but it’s nothing like the drastic move up or down. I have double checked all connections, they are good, and if they weren’t I would be getting the errors I would assume.

Anyone know what might be going on? As stated it is an OEM factory take off 2021 grille so the Toyota emblem should be of quality unlike the aftermarket’s tend to be. Any help is appreciated!

Interesting... as you said it would make more sense if you swapped to a Pro grill, but let's think about what did change. You had to remove the module and replace it on the new grill, and remember these are sonar-based, did anything end up between the sensor and the grill badge? They're specifically tuned for a certain amount of material in between the sensor and the object in front of you, so maybe something ended up in between and is causing the system to react not as normal. Next thought is that maybe it's the opposite, not enough material between the sensor and road now. I'd just look back at the work you've done and check for differences. Just problem solving deduction really.

Good info @zDirtyDeedz, thanks for the input. So I just pulled both grilles and checked measurements, compared garnishes side by side, & reinstalled the SR5 garnish with a washer behind each bolt on the sides to give it a slight angle downwards. I did that because the position of the garnish is actually about 5/8” higher on the new grille. The two garnishes looked identical side by side but the numbering on the back was slightly different so figured what do I have to loose in swapping. Might be batch numbers, idk. Going to test it out in the morning traffic tomorrow and see how it does! The great thing is these grilles take no more than 5 minutes to pull off the truck.
