3M VHB tape. Comes in several different varieties, all of which are ridiculously strong. It's what I used to reattach my roof molding and they aren't going anywhere. I also discovered that if you use it to attach something to the wall and later attempt to remove it, the plaster or wall paper will delaminate before the VHB bond will break.

I believe this is what @ETXTacoma is referring to in his post below, but you don't need to use a heat gun. Surface preparation is, as always, highly recommend even with this stuff.

Yea, you could also do a low power Rigid rock light and mount it under there and use a water proof flip switch to activate it?

Agreed. I have some magnetic shop lights that I use, otherwise I would have added under-hood lighting a long time ago for that very reason.

No, the tape. IIRC a roll will set you back about $20 if not more.

    Yes.
I'm happy to help. Generally I need to know what you want to be able to do, and what your budget is. :)

I'm always going to suggest getting your ham radio license and a 2m/70cm radio, but a GMRS rig is an easy first step, with a lower barrier to entry. If the group as a whole says "We want to use GMRS and are willing to get licensed" then life is easy :)
