What I'm not getting (physics and electricity), you put in a switch and blew it. Another, and blew it. Having checked the switch. Tells me there is something in the circuit, not the switch. Soldering that wire in place, is gonna allow a lot more current to wherever the problem is. And I KNOW you KNOW your wiring.

 

Unfortunately, I have zero idea of what's going on in here.

Looks like it's that time. First time watching a TV game like in the stands. Pretty cool. Anyway, Happy Tuesday in 20 minutes. Off to San Antonio World Car for a KIA service in the AM. If you are bored, come visit in the waiting room.

 

part of it was trusting others and not using my meter to double check... I know better, but I got in a rush.

the original switch the indicator lights would work when the button press (but there was a dead short and that cause the trace to burn up, which I was unaware of at time). but the ditch lights would not come on as all, I chalked it to just being a bad switch and swapped it with another switch I had for a future project. Wired in the new switch the same way (one that I knew was functioning properly). and POP. burnt the trace in two on the board.

So I decided to see if I could take the old switches apart, after all I had nothing to loose at this point. and I found the burnt trace right away. when I took the old switch apart, I notice that it was a momentary switch.

so I decided to take a a bit of time to go get dinner, and to calm down a bit... came back fixed the trace. got the meter out and Verified the light harness wires. I found my ground first then found my 12v feed, and that left me one wire and that the trigger wire for the relay.

If I had checked with my meter, would have prevented the second switch going bad for sure. and would have discovered I had a momentary switch sooner.

but it was interesting....

however in the end everything is working like it should.

 

This makes fireworks lovers everywhere feel much more safer. If you posted one of those sunsets today, I am stealing it. I don't remember who, but I am collecting them all before I get more drinker.
